Small feedback from a rather "new" player

Hi there, been a little under a month since i started playing this game, 180 hours so far.

There is one thing that bugs me sometimes, and that is the repetitive battle song...you know the one that plays every time you engage in a battle.
I don't mind the song, but i think it repeats a little too much.
Many games out there have this thing where the battle song will only play when the enemy represents a challenge, like Skyrim, Dragon Age, etc.
That way we don't get to listen to it every second, only when we meet a challenging enemy...and we actually get to listen the amazing OST (which i love)

Cheers

I never really noticed it. Maybe I got used to it and just don't hear it now.

Also, 180 hours in less than 30 days. That's atleast 6 hours a day, everyday.
That could be contributing to the repetitive feel :p

I actually find this hilarious, especially as the music is trying to build up meanwhile the enemy lays dead on the floor...music then realises it's over and kinda slinks away with its tail between its legs.

    Ha, yes that is good.
Since 1T I've been doing early zone quests I missed. The best thing is when you kill a boss in the middle of their monologue, and they finish trash talking while dead. :D

More like 8-9 hours, i just got hooked :p
That might be it, but the song will remain after i reach 1000 hours lol
I just think it would be more meaningfull to have it play only when there's a challenge, not everytime you fight a mudcrab lol

OP in all honesty the music gets repetitive after the first couple of hours (say 50-100).

Soon after that I swap over to my own playlists (not saying the game's music is bad, it's good! However repetition doesn't help it that much). I do this with all MMO's

I even sometimes listen to Oblivion's sound track while playing this, but in general I listen to modern music or use voice chat. The in game music is completely turned off.

Guess I never noticed since I have the music turned way down... I much prefer to hear the sounds of battle and the sound of my own footsteps compared to music going on... very 'mersion breaking. :p

Thank Merida, I though this was going to be some some winded speech on pvp balance.

As a fan of both Skyrim and the Dragon Age games... I don't think that's true. :p

I know these games have different battle music for more challenging opponents, but I'm pretty sure that, in Skyrim, I've used battle music as a cue for when something is attacking me, and I know there's been battle music while navigating the DA tactics menus.

I could be misremembering, though. Earlier installments in both series absolutely did this (Ah, that mudcrab in Morrowind that followed me halfway across the map... I could tell because the battle music just kept going). But I suspect it's more likely that you just notice it more because MMO battles are generally more frequent.
    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

(Signature idea shamelessly stolen from Abeille.)

Skyrim plays the battle music with any oponent in early game, but once you lvl up a bit it only plays for challenging enemies, sometimes you'll fight a Dragon and have no battle music at all, unless it's an Elder Dragon...take the Draugr for example, the first difficult one you fight (in Bleak Falls Barrow) falls short compared to the ones you fight later on, unless you fight a Draugr Overlord the battle music will not be triggered, and even then, if you are very high level it wont play.
I think the same happened in Dragon Age Inquisition, i might be wrong; Dragon Age Origins was different though, because the battle music would be triggered all the time, but there were severall ones depending on if you were fighting Darkspawn, humans, dwarves, etc.

I really love this game's OST, specially the score "Moons of Evening Star", which i think only plays when creating a character and when you are logged out for inactivity...there is an alternate version in Windhelm though.
