I actually find this hilarious, especially as the music is trying to build up meanwhile the enemy lays dead on the floor...music then realises it's over and kinda slinks away with its tail between its legs.

Ha, yes that is good.
Since 1T I've been doing early zone quests I missed. The best thing is when you kill a boss in the middle of their monologue, and they finish trash talking while dead.
I never really noticed it. Maybe I got used to it and just don't hear it now.
Also, 180 hours in less than 30 days. That's atleast 6 hours a day, everyday.
That could be contributing to the repetitive feel

As a fan of both Skyrim and the Dragon Age games... I don't think that's true.
I know these games have different battle music for more challenging opponents, but I'm pretty sure that, in Skyrim, I've used battle music as a cue for when something is attacking me, and I know there's been battle music while navigating the DA tactics menus.
I could be misremembering, though. Earlier installments in both series absolutely did this (Ah, that mudcrab in Morrowind that followed me halfway across the map... I could tell because the battle music just kept going). But I suspect it's more likely that you just notice it more because MMO battles are generally more frequent.
OP in all honesty the music gets repetitive after the first couple of hours (say 50-100).
Soon after that I swap over to my own playlists (not saying the game's music is bad, it's good! However repetition doesn't help it that much). I do this with all MMO's
I even sometimes listen to Oblivion's sound track while playing this, but in general I listen to modern music or use voice chat. The in game music is completely turned off.
