Are Guards actually defeatable?

Usually a Guard's healthbar is a solid tannish gray, but for a split second though you can see a typical health bar appear right before its covered over.

Guards have 10.2 Million hp. So does that mean Guards are actually defeatable, but it would just take so long that we assume they cant, or does our attacks really do nothing and that number is just there for no reason.

You can't kill guards. Many have tried.

They also have a timed one-shot mechanic, "Crowd Control," that goes off if you are unable to get away in time.
Why be normal when you can be better?

I don't think they are possible to defeat, but I guess even if they were, with 10.2 mil HP you wouldn't stand a chance anyway.

Why don't we, the entire playerbase, gather in Daggerfall and try to kill a guard. If we work together we may be able to do it.

I will watch that video when I come home. My work streaming is to slow.

What is annoying I can easily evade a guard. Even from within a small house. They never catch or kill me.

However, if I toy with them eventually they will just one-shot you no matter how much health you have and whether you are cloaked.

Sounds like something to plan, then.

10.2m / 12 people = 850k / 30k dps = 28.3 seconds of sustained pounding. So have a couple Templars off to the side dropping stam shards and hots and orbs.

Factor in time spent hitting synergy or people needing to heavy attack or maneuver, pull it off in something like 35 seconds.

Anyone know what the timing is on those one-shot blasts the guards throw out?

Good question, another question if you can use negate against it?
And it also looks like you can burn past it, probably as guards take so much damage under execute it don't trigger.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

Sounds very doable. Could it really be this simple? I guess the required dps is dependent on that one shot mechanic.

How do you get them in the water, though? Water is a well-known thief escape tactic for a reason: the guards don/t follow you in.
    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

I've tried standing and fight a couple times with a group of 6 or more, and no, we didn't win. Ha ha. Yes, you can see their hp within a split second (with that 10 millions hp), but there is a reason why guards' health bars are grayed out (or yellowish mustard color.. I don't know), right.. because they are invulnerable. Whenever a target's healthbar is grayed out, then they can't be damaged. At least, this is what I understand. Take Dranos (in CoS), for example. When his healthbar goes gray, then he cannot get damaged until you kill all three of his adds in order to make Dranos vulnerable again. Also, just like that Slaver Argonian beast dude boss in RoM where he spits out that green goo, and his health bar also grays out until you pick up that goo and dance your way or skip/hop to the other side where the geyser is at to wash off. So, a guard, with that grayed out healthbar, should not be able to receive damage. However, outdoors, it is not hard to slip away from them when they are attacking you.

    I agree.

I have killed guards a few times - when they susspected I had stolen items on me, or if they thought I had killed someone. As if I would! I was always on legitimate business.

Despite getting the better of them, I always ended up dead on the ground. I can never get to a 'flee' or invisibilty potion in time for a quick get-away.

I do not know if using an invisibility actally works - never got that far. :'(
