What do you think the game devs had in mind as they were creating TESO? Do you think they wanted us to move leisurely through the game taking in sights and sounds? Or were they thinking of players doing their content expediently? What pace were they imagining players would move at when they made TESO?
I think it was designed both ways....lots of solo quest content for those really interested, but no real need to do it all, so those who dont want to play solo dont have to. There is also plenty of content for people who just want to tear through the game.
As far as questing goes, though, some of them require you to read to understand it, which can be frustrating if you dont read them, so questing was certainly designed to be taken at a slower pace.
I think they totally didn't realize what was actually going to happen - speed leveling, grinding, minimaxing, taking use of every single buff possible etc etc. It seems they expected everyone to play the game leisurely, slowly soaking up quests and using shiny skills because they look cool, not because they fit in a build well. Pretty sure they were absolutely shocked when back then when we still had vet they realized people were running trials in 7 mins due to using builds minimaxed to the core and taking advantage of every buff and shortcut possible.
In fact this attitude is probably why so many things in the game have been so utterly unbalanced from the start, pretty sure such things as "bis gear", "optimized build", "best race" didn't even come to their mind when they made this. The community reaction has been so strong they had to adapt and change though, and still it's only now that we're getting some sort of in-game dps meter with target skeletons, and still information vital to the gameplay(such as how skills scale, where armor caps etc) are not obtainable anywhere in the actual game.
At launch it was meant to be slow as you progress. After 1T, they meant to have it quickly done for new players, I think.
Don't think its much faster, well probably for you leveling an alt in training gear
You can do it multiple ways, take your time or grind fast. I grinded pretty fast to 50 then relax and enjoy quests.
Has not done the main or faction quests since launch so its nice.
