You lose 100% of the fights you run from.

As other's have said. The disgusting, unnecessary, unpurgable gap closer snare must be removed and removed COMPLETELY from this game.

It is the single worst gameplay design change since launch. It completely undermines solo play and is the number one strongest buff to zergs even considering AOE caps.

Remove this terrible design flaw and gap closers are balanced again.

It's not "poking" a zerg. You have to pick some fights, and positioning is a tool you can use to even the odds. When a zergling gapcloses you to make sure his ten buddies can catch up to you, it removes counterplay and promotes bad gameplay. Or shall I just log off every time the blue zerg is online?

Uncounterable Streak was a myth. Every gapcloser caught the sorc, just as now. Only difference was that the chaser usually was alone and couldn't slow the sorc down for the zerg to catch up.

Lotus Fan has the snare. The other morph has empower. That is okay. Unkillable builds are typically the root spammers in a zerg, and they are a plague.

If a target is a player, they are briefly snared instead of being stunned.

That's tool tip. So all gap closers except ambush will be snare free if you remove snares from gap closers. Yes ambush should be more powerful than other gap closers. It is a class ability.

Ambush spam is laughable damage. Streak, Lotus Fan, Toppling Charge, or Chain spam with EotS active is hell.

Forgive me if I seem ignorant, but I'm confused to the point of the post?

Is there a specific skill or set of skills that you feel are being abused/exploited? Or is it just an inconvenience issue?

I think a bit more explanation would help drive discussion here.

I think he's talking about ambush or lotus fan, that ability should have a minimum range, it's a gap close after all.

If you run, you only die tired.

yeah, but sometimes (often) you outrun the zerg, get up on the wall and smoke a half dozen or more with cold fire. :D

    This ^^^

Some people I think don't quite understand what's being discussed, it's not about the damage, it's about the hidden "snare" when someone gap closes you.

Eg on my medium stamina build with shuffle (snare immunity); say I have a mini Zerg on my tail, I activate shuffle, roll dodge (whilst vigour ofc) and sprint but upon completion of my roll dodge I'm not able to move... why? Because the invisible stupid snare stops me, even tho my shuffle should prevent any snares for a brief period. It's a ridiculous design and helps the zerglings out.
Ofc on my stamblade combined with cloak it's still possible to escape but certain situations this snare is the breaking point of you being killed by the zerglings.

Hats off to everyone taking the time trying to explain to potatoes what the issue with gap close auto snare is - especially in General Discussion.

To elucidate, shortly before 1.6 Wrobel added a 0.75 sec auto root to every gap closer. Meaning that as soon as the gap closer was cast, the target was rooted and could not move, period. This root was not part of or subject to the normal CC system, hence it bypassed root immunity. With multiple people spamming gap closers, you would literally be perma rooted. Later this was changed to a 1 sec duration 60% auto snare, which is what we have now. Wrobel's whole reasoning was that 'well it's to ensure gap closers connect', which was simply put full potato, because in the whole year since launch, there had literally not been a single post asking for such a thing to be added to gap closers.

Of course, now that gap closing potatos have access to such an over tuned function, many have become very vocal about defending it in the same way they tried to defend infinite dodge roll.
    How about no.

Let's not go back to when PVP was full of Sorcerers streaking away with no real counter.
Streak range is 15 meters, gap closer range is 22 meters. The counter has always been to gap close spam if you don't want them to escape. In 1.6 before streak cost increase penalty was added, a properly specced stam build could actually out run & out sustain a streaking sorc - with the addition of the streak penalty that has only become more pronounced. Claiming there was "no counter" is a complete straw man.

What adding the auto snare (previously auto root) on your gap closers has done is now slow people down to the point that as soon as 2 people in your hoard of 'friends' starts gap close spamming, every other potato is able to catch up in seconds and Xv1 them down.

It's part of why Cyrodiil has devolved into a faction v faction zerg blob routine over the past year. You don't see the solos or groups of 2-4 running about on their own in the field, now they either piggy back in the zerg or they run 8+ and try to farm resources.

    Hm, okay.
That snare follows the rules, though, so Shuffle and Mist prevent it. Erm, I think it would be okay to remain that way.
