Why can't I buy plus without a credit card. It's pretty stupid ZOS won't take my money...

Other games sell timecode cards... I suppose they could do that for ESO plus, or for crown purchase too if they so chose... the question would be, are there enough people who'd buy those for the effort and investment of making them be worth it?

Why do you say it's not worth it? I'm interested in the DLC and it would be nice to be able to check it out for myself without actually purchasing it indefinitely. Also the benefits of plus (I think I read there is a 10% bonus to research times?) and the 1500 crowns with each month. For anyone interested enough in the game to pay for more, the plus membership is a great deal the way I see it.

My guess is probably either some weird policy on ZOS or Microsofts end disallows the use of your prepaid XBL funds for a game subscription as its not a one time microtransaction. Or ZOS purposefully wants it to be a hassle so people have to just outright buy all the DLC without the seemingly good benefits of plus membership like the 1500 crowns, and also the chance of the player just canceling the subscription and not coming back if they don't like the Dlc or just drop the game after a month. Whatever the reason is, it really sucks. I don't see myself purchasing DLC without trying it first or enjoying just the base game for much longer and I'm adamant about not putting a CC on my Xbox account despite that being the simplest and most obvious resolution here..

You could go and buy a visa gift card and then use that to pay.

I tried that, loaded 30$ on a vanilla MasterCard and it did not work ("unable to process transaction" error) even though MasterCard is one of the listed payment options that's accepted and I had the balance pulled up right in front of me with the proper amount of funds.

Buy a prepaid visa. Or if you launch ESO through steam, use steam cards.
I don't have a credit card and I own all the DLC plus 10k in crowns.
    Gift cards bruh
Another thing you can use is PayPal. If you're willing to wait for the transfers to go through, you can just link it to your bank account(s)

On PC we can pay without credit card using either paypal or game time cards. So so it's either an issue with microsoft or has something to do with the laws of the country you live in if you need a credit card.

I like to revive this thread as I couldn't find an official statement about this in the forum and I want to leave my frustration somewhere.
I like to have ESO plus once in a while. I don't own a credit card and I wouldn't even if I had one, see those information stored here on elderscrollsonline.com for recurrence. Not that I don't trust you, but even Yahoo wasn't able to keep bad people away. Payment information are always attractive.

For now, the 60-day game cards where nice. Easy to get, save ( because I have a valid looking card in my hands ) and no credit card required - here in Germany I can pay them via giro transfer. Now, it looks like prepaid is no longer available and with that, Eso+ is no longer available for me. My friend has the same issue.

@ zenimax: Is it true that for Germany/EU, prepaid cards will no longer be available or is this just a temporary inconvenience/unavailability ?

Don't get me wrong. I'm not looking for some even cheaper deals. The subscription prices are pretty fair for what one get. It's really about payment options which are currently really the worst I have experienced in 40 years. If there is no other way, I may need to start looking for an alternative. Would be a shame, but no new content == no new attraction.

    Thank you for reading.

Hello Jessica, thanks for the quick response. Yes it's PC and EU-Server (Germany).
I also checked the options in my account, but there is only an option to set a recurrence plan.
