I ended up turning mine into a meditation grotto. Sapling trees fit nicely with the high ceiling, and the elven architecture makes trees living in there kind of believable. I also lined the floor with some plants and rocks, and stuck a candle on a stone in the middle of the floor. All you need to do is sit and meditate (or fast travel into something that looks much nicer than an empty broom closet).
