Race Change Regrets

Has anyone else changed their character's race in game and found that they immediately regretted the decision?

I just changed the toon I've had from the game's launch from orc to imperial, seeking the desirous racial passives - I'd always regretted rolling him orc, right from the beginning. Should have gone imperial. I've had crowns from my membership sitting around doing nothing, and I'd been thinking about it for a while. Now, finally, I've made the switch. In the character editor I felt happy with his appearance, I kept him mostly the same as the orc had been, little touch ups here and there, you know, if you're changing your whole race nothing wrong with a little fiddling. Looked good. Then, I logged into the game... My mighty orc warrior (he's NB tank, hence imperial yearnings) is now this small little fellow, whose legs don't quite fit, and he runs like he's making fun of the act of running itself. His broad muscular shoulders replaced by arms less impressive than the ones I use to wield the keyboard and mouse which control them.

I didn't really need the racial passives... Now I'm an abomination. Anyone else felt this way about their race changes?

P.S. no offense to fans of the imperial aesthetic, I embellished the language here for comical effect.

I wish they'd do away with them. The game would so much more fun if people just made and played the characters they wanted to, rather than for optimal stats.

I've never race changed but I have experienced that "I'm hideous" feeling many times back when I was first creating characters. A long-standing and oft made criticism of the game is that you don't look exactly the same in the creator as you do in the world.

It really sucked with the 3 deletions limit and took me over 6 weeks of creating characters and getting them into the world to settle on looks I liked. Some good advice I read here once was to install the PTS and try out character looks there before creating characters or changing their appearance on the live server.

Seems like you just got use to/attached to your orc. xD I first made a nord tank and later bought imperial upgrade and made a new imperial tank, I didnt get attached to my big muscly my-muscle-is-my-armor nord and havn't really regretted it.

I bought a make over kit in gw2 and changed my charr fur from tiger to black and immediately regretted what I did so I definitely know that feel.

But I do really want to make an Orc... I hope warden doesnt end up as let down.

I hope you learn to like your new imperial or rip your wallet to change him back :p

Getting at least one picture of my character before changing would have been wise. I can lift one from a low-quality video post-boss, and put the same gear on to make some kind of comparison, but I've never been one for taking these beauty shots according to the content of my drive.

Imperial in the current gear (in which the difference between the two is more pronounced, but less documented)

Shame I didn't have a good picture of my orc before I changed him. His image lives on in my mind only.

He looks fine pictured like that, it's largely the difference in size that makes me sad I guess. As an orc he was quite a big character, and now he's quite small. Everyone I encounter is taller, and larger than my 70k hp tank.

I like my imperial DK tank. Solid as they come. You are probably going through that different look aspect that one needs to get used to.

Kinda like when the wife gets a new hair style and she looks awkward to you. Sure honey, you look beautiful, um, yea. After a couple weeks she really does and all that changed is you got used to it.
