I have several names for my mounts and a few pets, but my most loyal companion is my QuakCon Bristlegut Pig whom I named, ready for it, "Ned Beatty"....

“When the people that can make the company more successful are sales and marketing people, they end up running the companies. The product people get driven out of the decision making forums, and the companies forget what it means to make great products.”
it sad that once we name our pet only we ourselves can see its name. other people cannot see what we named it.
thanks for the info about this. I havnt named my pets yet because I have never been able to see any other players pets names so I assumed they were not displayed, but didn't know for sure.
Most of the fun naming your pet something silly is having people see it.
Its not really as much fun if no one else can share the joke with you.
My mind shriven horse is named Frankenstein, because he's all corpse-y and lightning-y at the same time.
And I have a horse named Bill, which is actually a joke between me and my husband. In Skyrim (or maybe it was Oblivion, I forget) I named a horse Bill after my husband, and the horse was promptly eaten by ogres. He's teased me about it ever since.
So when I started ESO, I named a horse Bill and reassured my husband that the horses in ESO are immortal. LOL
I usually name my pets and mounts after things from other games or books. I named my Imperial horse "Arod" from LotR (I use it on my Bosmer; original, I know). I named my zombie horse "Arvak" after Skyrim, and my vermilion scuttler "Tribune" in reference to the Tribunal.
Sometimes I will just give names that are fitting/cool. I named my nightmare courser "Hellstrider", for example. I also named my mudcrab "Sushi", because why not
My Altmer, Aerindel:
Horse - Eight's Blessing
Nixad - Beryl
It is not unusual, at least around here, to give horses names that are more expressions than actual names. Like I know people who own horses and named them "Caduceus's Romance", "Paradise's Sunset" and "Sailor's Pride" (all rough translations). I did that for this one (but not to my other horses in the game). I kept the name of the Turquoise Nixad because I think it sounded great and fit her nicely.
My Orc, Durza:
Horse - Anvil
Dog - Fleabag
My Orc named her horse Anvil because it is not only the main thing she uses in her work as a blacksmith, but also because it is the symbol of her clan (Morkul).
The Markarth Bear-Dog she own is called Fleabag because she didn't want to get it in the first place. "No animals in the forge", she said. But the dog showed up and my Dunmer, who is very young, convinced Durza to let the dog stay.
My Bosmer, Tegwen:
Senche - Dinner
Monkey - Snack
She likes to say that they are just her "emergency food supply" like if she has no attachment to them (it's a lie).
My Dunmer, Liliel:
Guar - Munches-Everything
Pony Guar - Eats-My-Apples
Their names refer to things they actually did. They are named like that despite Liliel not living like a Dunmer because they were brought from Morrowind with Liliel and her father, and they were already named like that by her mother, who came from a family that had Argonian slaves, so she was used to this kind of names.
My Argonian, Sings-Many-Songs:
Guar - Munches-Everything (it is the same mount that my Dunmer owns)
No pet.
Sings behaves like Liliel's mother/babysitter and they use the same mount.
My Khajiit, Zadarri:
Senche - Sugarbelly
No pet.
Zadarri isn't very fond of moonsugar. She is a soldier and prefers her mind to be clear at all times. Her Senche disagrees.
My Breton, Beatrice:
Horse - Eight's Blessing in game, but it doesn't have a name ICly because she couldn't care less about her horse.
Black Cat - Oliver.
Beatrice doesn't have a mount that really fits her (and none was released so far that I think she would like) so she is using the Imperial White Horse just like Aerindel. The names of the mounts are account-wide, so I can't change the name of the Imperial White Horse just for Beatrice. So for now, it has no name. The cat is named after my own black cat.
My Imperial, Ellaria:
Horse - Epona
No pet
It's the Palomino horse. I like Zelda games and have no creativity. Don't judge me.
My Nord, Gyda:
Ice Wolf - Frostbite
Ice Wolf Pup - Moon Moon
Well uh... It's a wolf, it bites. And it's an ice wolf. And ice gives frostbite. Did I mention I had no creativity?
The pup is called Moon Moon because it photobombed one of my screenshots when it yawned, so it was the only possible name it could have.
My Redguard, Sahima:
Horse - Epona
No pet
The problem here is that I had to use the Palomino horse for her too because I missed on the Yokudan Charger (and it was available for only 350 Crowns I can't believe I didn't buy it why am I so stupid omg). If she had the Yokudan Charger, it would be called Dune. Because of, well, dunes in a desert.

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.
Meet my characters:
Command: Do the thing.
Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded. Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way. Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing. Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe. Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources. Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources". Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me. Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear. Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem. Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.
Being unimaginative when trying to come up with names, my horse is called Horse E. "shrugs".
