For the longest time I thought you had to go hunt down your Guild Trader wherever it was in the world so that you could sell your stuff. I felt like a total dingbat when I found out you could use the local banker.

As that moment when - after playing for a few days - I finally get the nerve to ask in zone:

"Hey, where do you find the picks and axes to harvest the ore and wood?"

All that ore I left behind ...

OH my God your so stupid

*Cough I never did this ;)

The irony in your sarcastic poke :p

Posted on here about master writs needing a preview (more than once), so we can see what the writ is for, before opening it & accepting. Today I discovered, you can preview the writ by putting it in your inventory and running the mouse cursor over the writ.

There is a quest where you need to find a pick axe to weaken support beams. Apparently, the one you've been using to harvest ore isn't good enough. Neither is the axe you have conveniently tucked away somewhere.

LOL. What type of answers did zone chat respond with?

Fortunately, someone whispered me to go to an ore node and hover my mouse over it and click. Maybe a slow day in zone but I didn't really get the: "You may not be smart enough for this game" answers that, in hindsight, I should have gotten.
/zone is weird. Sometimes it's super troll-infested and sometimes it's full of super helpful folks. I can never predict which it will be on any given day.

Hell, I can never predict which one I'll be on any given question.

Actually... Coming from a background of previous Elder Scrolls games, I'm surprised I didn't have the same issue when I first started playing. It's really not that stupid to think you need a pick and an axe. You needed them in Skyrim. It's been long enough that I don't remember if you needed them in Oblivion or other older TES games.

Oblivion had pickaxes (I think), but there was no mining mechanic. To be fair, they may have been added by a mod. Morrowind just used ore pockets as containers. I want to say malachite and ebony were the only ones you could collect, but it's been awhile.

You must complete vet maelstrom arena 50 times. Then you can begin harvesting.

Don't feel bad OP, I searched for a fishing pole for the longest time.

Same here, I even tried to steal one and was really annoyed that I couldn't. When it was explained to me, getting bait was a whole new adventure. I'd been deleting anything like that from my inventory.

So far it's been pretty good but I'm still in my first zone (Khenarthi's Roost). My daughter, who has played since launch, warned me about some of the other zones.

By comparison, I played some early MMOs (back around the launch of WoW) where the chat was so bad it drove me from the game.
Overall I've found Stonefalls to be the worst for /zone on PC/NA, but since One Tamriel dropped and players of any level and any alliance can go adventure in any zone I haven't noticed it being as bad as it used to be. Maybe the low-level EP trolls spread out? I've also heard from a lot of vets of other MMOs that ESO's in-game community is less toxic than most, but I can't speak form personal experience on that one.

Auridon & the Rift...put on a few on ignore in those zones since last weekend.

What's in the rift. Audiron is just cause it's were high elves are from.

Hehe I still do stupid things.

Recently got the Necropotence set for my CP 600 sorc. Not used a pet before, did a couple of dolmens and said to my guild "it's pretty useless, pet dies in seconds"

Then I realised I only had the pet on my front bar and was killing him every time I swapped weapons :)

I was making the skeleton dps dummy and it needed like 200ish bones(can't remember the number) so I asked zone chat where to farm bones and boy did the trolling start later I got a whisper saying you can buy them at any blacksmith. I'm a max crafter and played the game for 3 years and I forgot that bone was a race style for bosmer XD

I said in Davon's zone chat to meet me at Rift alter if you want to become vampire. I'm an idiot. Only one bite to give. Had to eat crow and apologize to those I could not bite. Felt like such an azz.
