Make housing more meaningful

Desmes
Desmes
I feel like housing is kinda useless right now. There is no point to visit my friends house or guildmate house. Housing system itself is pretty nice, but I don't feel like owning one is something I would care about.

My ideas:
  1. Create growing function to housing. Like grow provisions, ores, wood etc. It would awesome way to make players come back to their house and make housing feel more useful. Also players might get more addicted to game, because now and then they are forced to come back into game or when they are not in game they still feel like they are part of the game.
  2. Would be awesome of housing had something that makes is useful to others. I have no idea how to do this, but maybe make like crafting stations that you can assign style/trait and people can use it to build that trait/style item. Like when I have imperial style I can assigned to crafting station and anyone who enter my house can craft on that station imperial style items.
  3. More ambitious and unreal would be invading other houses. By invading I mean stealing from other house. This would mean there would be some kind of trap system and guard system. Maybe even if you are in game while someone goes to your house you get notification and can go defend your house.

Alchemy herbs, maybe. Perhaps even some small scale provisioning ingredients. But res don't "grow", and both woodworking wood, clothier fabric and main veggie provisioning ingredients generally take a LOT of time to grow... say, a year respawn rate? ;)

One other possibility for a "daily reward" thing might be a placeable mailbox... combined with the option of buying deeds to some profitable business. Buy a share in that mining guild, find 100 gold in your homes mailbox each sunday, buy a deed to that grocery shop, find 10 gold in your mailbox every day, whatever. And with random events... mine might play out, and you loose your income... sometimes you may get a "recover your owed rent money from the local robbers" miniquest, or have to go and "intimidate" an tenant for their weekly rent... feeling like a slumlord already, hmmm? ;)

That would be very iffy. Possibly even "legal trouble" iffy (after all, if you buy furniture wioth crowns, and someone "steals" it in-game... they stole something you kinda paid real money for... I am not co certain that "its just a game" covers things like that, not when real world value was "lost"). I doubt they would go there, ever...

What I would want was more functionality to houses in different ways.

Bookshelves with an "content" tab, where you can put furniture-books and similar sized stuff like scrolls, skulls, potion bottles, etc. in, and then place the "filled" shelf as one object.

Containers that dispense the effect of one drink or food put in their "content" upon being interacted. Could be ale kegs with provisioning-made ale in them, or potion bottles with alchemist-made potion in them, or cauldrons with a provisoner-made food in them...

Pets that don't just sit there static, but move around and interact. Go to a special "pet feeding bowl" and nom. Go to a special "pet resting pillow" and nap! Have a default setting for greeting the homeowner - and another default setting for greeting a visitor.

Armor stands and weapon racks, where you can display some of your inventory-stuff in your home through placing it in their "content" tab.

Containers that when interacted with by the homeowner will lead to a certain tab of their bank or crafting back... a wardrobe that opens -only- to the "armor" tab, or a footlocker that opens -only- to the weapons tab, or a small strongbox that opens -only- to the misc tab, or a chest of drawers that opens -only- to the consumables tab...

More interactable furniture. Sitting is fine, but... I want beds I can "sleep" on (not just static "lie down", but a looped sleeping animation with occasional turning around in your dreams), wall shackles, stocks or slaveposts you can "lock" someone in (or get locked in your self, for... certain kinds of roleplay... no, not what YOU think, you naughty people, I am speaking of "Damsel in Distress" roleplay! :p;) ), a noose you can "hang" from (great for witches festivel pranks that can go horribly wrong!), etc.

NPCs. We need things to make our homes feel alive, especially manors that have all that space.

Add other characters as either decoration or walking around the house/engaging with furniture for immersion and RP.

I'd literally fly to the US to ZOS and hug @ZOS_GinaBruno for that

Ment more like stealing ingredients not furniture. Like in dungeons, game generates things into boxes and shelves, but then, it would not interesting. Maybe add like storage, because my bank is always full and extra storage would be nice and when you go to stealing someones house you can steal % of that storage. Lets say for example 30% of that storage can be stolen and those items are randomly pick by server.

Why can I only give you 1 awesome?

The option of starting small crafting material farms seems pretty nice, though there should be a limit, of course. Otherwise, I'll be like one of those old *** in a chair, just watching my lawn all day with a gun in my hands.

    1. Okay.
    2. No. You can already make a bench with a specific set attached to it I believe. Style though? No. People collect and sell motifs. Don't ruin that market.
    3. Heck no. I'm in a hotel and can't even play now. Last thing I need is to get back on in a week and see everything is gone because I couldn't defend it.

I agree. Other than the target dummy, housing offers no benefit to the player. You can't even complete your writs faster in your house. It's faster to just do them in Deshaan.

Random ideas. Some good. Some bad:
    1. Writ board.
    2. Writ turn ins.
    3. Battle Spirit enabled target dummies.
    4. Banker with guild bank and trader access for homes only.
    5. Enable repairing on merchant when it is placed in a house.
    5. Free fast travel to anywhere from your home.
    6. Mission NPCs that do various tasks for you and return stuff.
    7. Decrease material cost by 1 when crafting in a house.
    8. Increase extraction returns by 10-20% when deconning in a house.
    9. When you park your alts in your house you can still see them when you swap characters.
    10. Place material bags and zone/dungeon set item chests that other players can lock pick or loot once every 2-6 hours.
    11. Reduce postage fee by 50% when sending a mail from house.
    12. When Morrowind launches, allow spectating players that have it enabled, only when you are in your house.

    @3
    1) if you'd implement storage idea, there is nothing that forces you to store there. If you want you can store in bank, but if you are full at bank and you are fine with stealing chances then why not.
    2) There would be guard system just like in CoC. If your house has been looted you get immunity for looting 15 hours, if you don't return in 15 hours after looted you will be marked as "on vacation" and your house would be not lootable after guarded time ends.

Out of topic: I personally f#cking hate motif market. It is a too heavy RNG. Actually I hate this whole AH system, because at one guild item can be 100 and another guild it can be 1000 and when you are week or two away and come back, you have to start looking again trading guilds. Classical 1 AH feels much better as player. I think this guild AH feels fun only for leaders who get % of sold items (if they get, im not sure)
