Probably a stupid question regarding Maelstrom Arena.

If you are a vet level character, do you automatically 'do' the Vet level MA?

I just completed MA with my vet level sorc and got a blue ring as the last reward. I'm guessing I'm somehow on normal level? (Gutted is an understatement. Oh and if it was completed on normal level I'm dreading to think how dificult it is on Vet!)

    You need to set you dungeon level before entering. It's on the dungeon or group window, I'm drawing a blank in which one.

    You completed it on normal. Sorry to tell you this but vet is a totally different beast. Normal is really really easy compared to vet.

    Open the group menu (default key is "P").
    Click on the veteran icon on top of the right page to set your dungeon difficulty level to veteran.

    Yeah unless you have something to prove or really really really need that weapon then save your sanity and walk away from vet...I already have a full-time job...

    Set vet mode in group window (little icon above group list) then port if you really don't value your sanity.

    I feel kinda proud. It WAS very easy. Just tried stage 1 befoe I go to bed though and oh yes - THAT'S vet....

    Remember brother - there are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

    To do vet VMA you need to be any vet level and when you go to your group menu select Veteran mode and then just go to Vma.

    After every round you receive points - so you definetely know that it is veteran mode. Also when the vet trial starts in about 10-15 seconds when you enter the actual fight - you will see a message started solo trial veteran maelstorm arena.

    I remember my first maelstrom arena clear. After hours of huge frustration, I quit on stage 5. After about a week I came back again and got to the last stage. One week later I beat it for the first time, a did not touch it for at least 3 months, probably closer to 6. I did not know that that was only on normal lol.

    When I finally did attempt it again, it was quite a bit less frustrating than my first attempt, bug this time it actually was in vet. By my fourth clear, I could get to stage 7 without deaths. At this point, I have cleared every stage without a death, but not all in the same run.


    Good job, OP. When you do finally try it on vet, you'll have quite a bit easier if a time now that you have a feel for the mechanics. But make sure you take your time to rest up from that ordeal. If you do that, while knowing your character well, you COULD get flawless in under 10 tries.
    The generally amicable yet sporadically salty magplar that may or may not have 1vXed you in Sotha Sil. Who knows?

    Even on the first stage of Vet the difference is completely noticeable. :)
    True story - I have adult ADHD so I really suck at the 'mechanical' aspect of PvE. I'll get there eventually though I hope. I completed normal with a build I've NEVER used before but I have since heard that it's supposed to be an 'easymode' build- magicka sorc pet build. Well if it is easy mode then I absolutely need to upgrade my gear (and probably my meds LOL) as well as try and concentrate a bit better :)

    This is absolutely a carbon copy of my experience with normal mode haha! But now i've beat it I HAVE to conquer vetmode. Let the tears begin and flow! lol :smiley:
