Black Sacrament PvP.

I have no idea why ZOS blatantly omitted this feature, but we need Black Sacrament PvP. Here's what I envision:

1. Add an active skill to the Dark Brotherhood skill line - a low-cost, melee-range ability that does terrible damage normally, but very good damage in execute range <25%. Slotting this ability also allows the player to see and engage player targets marked by the Black Sacrament.

2. Player A performs the Black Sacrament at a ritual site, enters the victim's character name and gold bounty amount when prompted.

3. Player B (victim) gets a piece of parchment in the mail displaying only the mark of the Black Hand.

4. All player characters who have achieved maximum rank with the Dark Brotherhood and slot the above ability see a Black Hand mark hovering above Player B's head. Players may initiate an assassination attempt by engaging combat normally.

4. The player that gets the killing blow receives their cut of the gold via mail from the Brotherhood. The victim can resurrect at the nearest wayshrine or by soul gem resurrection and then continue about their business.

5. Attempting to assassinate a player will alert witnesses and guards in the same way as murdering NPCs, opening the assassin to potential thwart by guards.

Viola, we now have another awesome PvP outlet and another fun goldsink and player economy for the game. Let's do this @ZOS_RichLambert!

What do you guys think? Yay or nay? Why?

    Really?

So you can nominate anyone to be killed and all master assassins can take the contract? And take a free hit on an unsuspecting person with a low-cost execute skill?

And you can't see how this might result in griefing?

I'm not sure how fun it would be for the target. What's to stop a group of d-bags from putting a "bounty" out on the same person over and over and over again.

Isn't it also kind of lore breaking to just have a free-for-all on black sacrament targets?

When ESO turns into GTA Online. Next, we'll have other players blowing up your mount.

Just give it an opt-out in the gameplay settings or better yet a visit to a nice daedric shrine like Mara for protection, grief problem solved. Tons of people would love it though, guaranteed.

This violates ZoS' game design that they have been adamant about since release. PvP is always a choice and takes place in spot: Cyrodiil. Duels, while not strictly in Cyrodiil, do not violate this principle because both players involved consent to the PvP event. Any other form of non-Cyrodiilic PvP was determined by ZoS to be subject to griefing and they chose to outright discontinue this form of game design. If you want PvP, duel or go to Cyrodiil. This summer you will have Battlegrounds - again these choices are mutual among the players involved and will continue to remain this way in ESO.

That has certainly been ZOS' tendency @Vercingetorix, but not having a PvP justice and Black Sacrament system is an abomination with regard to what a TES MMO should entail. I'm deeply saddened by the superficiality of ESO in so many areas, especially considering this game is rated mature.

A cooldown period on each victim may be necessary, sure.

With regard to free-for-all, I suppose a more lore appropriate system would be a PvP quest board in the DB lair.
