Character Profile Suggestion Poll

Good day all. :)

I would just like to bring this to everyone's attention; as this has been an idea that I have had regarding ESO for some time now.
Format of this Poll: 1.What it is and how it works - 2.Pros - 3.Cons.

Character Profile Pages

1. What it is and how it works:
A page linked to your forum profile that shows your characters, their items, attribute points and skill builds.
This page may also include:
  • player housing details,
  • achievements,
  • playtime,
  • RP tags,
  • faction,
  • addon usage and
  • anything else of interest you can think of really.
I am no game developer but this would supposedly work by sending this information to your character page every-time you you log-out of a character (or quit).
Blizzard has been doing this for Diablo 3, and is admittedly where the idea comes from:
ZnOjXeg.jpg

2. The pros:
  1. No more searching for builds online, just check your guild-mates', your in-game friends', that youtuber you like or that guy that constantly kills you in PvP.
  2. High level (serious player) guild recruitment.
  3. Finding and grouping Role-Players
  4. Possibility of being able to identify cheaters/hackers (If they still exist or ever present themselves)
  5. Bragging Rights
  6. Unlocking customization on page via in-game achievements. For instance: those who have ever been Emperor, will receive a 'theme' which reflects this achievement according to their faction.
  7. ZoS being able to sell customization for your page ;) As well as having a monopoly over 3rd party build sites, which are all just a badly made mess in my opinion.
  8. Youtubers can link their builds in their videos.
  9. And many more.

3. The cons:
Privacy. (fixed with an option to set to 'private'/ 'friends only' / 'public'
None other I can think of. (I'm sure this is where the community will help me out)

Let me and ZoS know what you think of this idea.

Yes please, but with a few changes in my reply below:
Your first bullet point where we can see someone's build is a giant NO for me.

    A. We already have discrimination just on CP, let's not add another way for people to arbitrarily vote kick without giving someone who isn't perfect meta setup a chance.

    B. There are competitive people who have personal builds that they consider to be a "secret weapon " or personal advantage and even if they share meta builds, will keep their specialty to themselves.

Yes, I understand this, that is why I mentioned privacy in the Cons. A simple turn off/ let no one see switch would be needed. making the character page something of a personal thing for those players as well. something to be proud of, just in private.

No, thank you. Who cares about other players anyway.
Let ZOS improve the actual game, instead of this community socialization nonsense.

I am guessing at this point in the discussion that it is a toss up between pvp'ers and pve'ers (broadly speaking).

Also, Every set is known, Every effect is known...this secret Armour setup bull. In my mind that is a person's way of saying "I do so much damage (have so much negate or sustain) that it shouldn't be possible".... In which case...We have uncovered a larger issue when it comes to PvP.

I fail to see what this have to do with privacy ( for all those who would think this is invasive in any way ).
There is no credit card info, phone info, mail or anything else but you account name and your characters.
For these who want to hide their builds/gear and other stuff, just make a quick equip setup in alpha gear/wykkid ond go naked. Problem solved, case closed, everyone is happy.

The problem with a turn off button is it doesn't address the first point Max made, people will demand you show a build before a group.

Honestly it's better people have all personal information hidden and they can then just say/link info they want to share.

I would never ask to see someone's build...just don't suck...don't fkn do dungeons if you know you can't...I realized this fast as a newbie and came back later.

In my opinion: The main reason people are so prickly about running dungeons with people was the sheer fail rate that was had in dungeons just before and just after ZoS changed all of the sets and introduced monster helms. People still feel that they will fail the run. Checking CP is More than Enough for me to see whether or not we will get through a dungeon. Personally I like 400CP+ for vet... but have had a group where 2 people were 250cp and we did just fine. When I was running my main healer I did vet at 200cp...all was fine...

In short, I don't quite understand Gear discrimination on the same level as CP discrimination.

Who knows, maybe the character pages will have the reverse effect and really show people that a set they thought was inferior actually Does work. I could calm the community down to put more faith in ZoS's balancing, who knows.

I'm all about customisation and things :) And in the few threads about having a companion app for the game, I always suggested a way to view our characters, like a little turn table, I would suggest this here too. It would be a nice way to show off your main, or your collection of awesome alts. As long as there is a way to switch off what is shown publicly on the forums, I don't see a downside :)
