Dots is the accronym for Damage over time effects.

This. Any ability that causes the target to take an amount of damage over an amount of time. Dots can be bleed, poison, or even Magic based like burning.

For the purposes of things like thaumaturge, channeled abilities also count as damage over time effects.

So, if you've been playing long enough to start earning cp, I'm going to...assume this thread is a joke?

    Damage
    Over
    Time

    DOT

It stands for a spell or ability that does recurring damage to a target or area.

(Explained it, just in case it wasn't a joke)

I do know what DOT is, but when I read some of these threads they talk about looking at the DOTs, so I thought they were talking about something else vs damage over time. if you don't have numbers turned on, you don't see those as well

Hah! A terrible joke would be to say it's the proper helmet you wear when riding your horse.

You know, is your helmet DOT certified? NO!? Then don't let the guard catch you riding through town, LOL!

Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
    Disable abilities while holding block.
Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.
Fix/Remove Forward Camps. They are ruining Cyrodiil.
Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.
Werewolf is not equal to Vamps/Bats.

    An example:

Mage guild's Structured Entropy skill...Bind an enemy with Chaotic magic, dealing 3168 magic damage OVER 14.4 seconds......

Stats low on that since it's not rank 4 yet. But this is a perfect example of DOT.

I didn't say that, I know what damage over time is, or your DOT, but when people say in posts or tuts they talk about lining up the dots. how do you specifically go about lining up the dot's. I have no clue how to do that

I know wht most of these lazy short terms mean but to me if someone is on fire they are burning not recieving damage over time lol I Iook at it from a visual point of view and not numbers too much.

I was just messing with ya.

Lining up the dots is basically casting more than one damage over time ability in a row, on a rotation, to keep them all going consistently.

News flash, not everyone is up with all things acronyms. There's still some I don't understand or have just found out recently. The one that springs to mind is 'BOP'. I thought it was a kind of dance, but no, turns out it's ZoS shafting those people who spend most of their time in dungeons. 'BiS' was another one i just learned recently.
