So One Tamriel has launched, I've downloaded the patch, fought a few revamped world bosses with other players, and despite playing on a character that is level 33 I get Grand Soul Gems from Dolmens and world bosses. I understand it is because of the whole battle leveling. After a while my weapons got empty so I decided to recharge them but this happens.
At first I thought it was a tooltip glitch or a bug, but you can clearly see on the pictures that
I have stacks of full soul gems, so I tried relogging, but that didn't fix it so then I reported it through the in-game submit feedback feature.
After that I went through the patch notes and saw this:
- Soul gem usage has been simplified.
- Players of all levels will receive and fill Grand Soul Gems, which can be used to revive players of any level, as well as to refill enchantments.
- Non-grand Soul Gems no longer fill these roles, and may be sold to vendors.
Ok I understand why non grand soul gems would be useless, since everyone is battle leveled to cp160 but why is it that
I cannot recharge my weapons with the current soul gems when the tooltip on the soul gems clearly states for what level they are and what I can do with them (and even then if they were lower level than the weapon being recharged then they would just
recharge the weapon partially).
I remember having no trouble recharging lower level weapons with lower level soul gems in cyrodiil or dlc zones (battle leveled zones) so why is that a problem now?
The
red text on the picture is misleading because I have stacks of full soul gems and I cannot use them and I don't see how recharging would be an exploit or something.
Also please don't tell me to just sell them to a npc vendor because their gold per soul gem ratio is horrible.
For empty ones they barely give you any gold (petty ones are sold for
nothing and all other ones go for around
2 gold per empty soul gem) For full ones it is somewhat better but still not as good as it would be if I could just use them to charge my weapons with them (
avarage amount of gold you can get for a full soul gem is around 18 gold depending on the size with petty ones going for 9 gold per unit and great ones going for 26 per unit)
And if I wanted to buy empty grand soul gems from the mystic npc trader I would have to buy them for
50 gold per 1 grand soul gem.
Zenimax, please, if you have time, take a look into this because a lot of people are unaware and that is the
second problem:
Non grand soul gems are still being sold in guild stores. I guess most of the people selling them are completely unaware they are useless now but I guess some are aware and they are just trying to get rid of them for a larger amount of gold.
The bad thing about this is that buyers are getting tricked and scammed, tooltips of the soul gems are still the same
(you can fully charge weapons up to level X and revive up to level X players) and with prices dropping I guess a lot of newer people who still haven't gotten to champion ranks and still use them might want to stock up on them,
not knowing that those soul gems are completely useless and that they are getting scammed for their gold even if it wasn't the sellers plan or purpose.
Solution? Well at least return the recharge function. That would be the easiest thing to roll back I hope but I don't know. And, maybe, make it so any kind of empty soul gem we have on us, once charged, would turn into a full grand soul gem (still not an exploit since I can easily steal a few from the enchanting stations and charge them myself).
