Pledges.
Stablemasters.
Mages, Fighters, and Undaunted daily quests.
Guild traders.
Writs.
Dueling.
Looking for group.
There are plenty or reasons we would still be going to towns. I don't want to see Homestead turn into WoW's Garrison either. The difference here is that I think ESO has enough features that are only available in towns to keep them from becoming "ghost towns". Another point to be made is that in the future ZOS could implement more reasons on top of the already existing ones to promote traveling to towns for certain things.
But, to not offer Merchant repair, Banker guild bank/stores, Smuggler laundering, while in the home is seriously hurting the games housing feature in a very significant way.
Many people are not even going to get involved in a house because of this one simple issue. Assistants do not offer full services while in you home. This is bad for everyone.
At 5k crowns per pop for assistants, I guarantee ZOS sees a HUGE influx of sales for these services in homes. Literally almost all people who previously did not want to purchase them will change their minds and buy them on the spot the moment they offer full features - Even just for in the home ONLY.
Make the right decision ZOS! You are only hurting everyones housing experience, and especially your own wallet by not doing this!

If they offered guild bank access, merchand repairs and smuggler fence, that would be 3 less reasons to go to town. Dueling, can be set up at anyone with a manor, one more reason. Lfg can be done anywhere. Now even with all that I think they should offer those services. As a matter of fact I think the smugglers 35% should be removed.
Now I don't find these assistants to be worthless, except maybe the smuggler. I like being able to sell off excess junk when farming, I also like being able to deposit into my bank things after running trials and dungeons, without the hassle of going to town. But their functionality could definitely be better.

Oh and btw, with the merchant you can buy repair kits, so its kinda the same thing-ish.
I agree OP.
HOWEVER if you decide to do this ZOS, please add more assistants & I don't mean more as in for different purposes only...
I mean give us a choice of WHO is our banker, fence ect.
I am a man of means... I would like the best banker there is and there is no better banker than a Breton!
I also want a Redguard smuggler ( to fence my things ) as the Khajiit takes too high of a cut because he was born to steal.
If we get a repair assistant make it an Orc. So I know my stuff isn't cracked...
Since I've been working on my house mostly this week, the peace and quiet is absolute bliss. I've actually started to dread going into town, there are always people dueling there or just mindlessly firing their AOE or loudest abilities. So for me, if they upgrade the merchant and banker and I get some crafting stations in I'll hardly ever have to go to town, and that suits me just fine. Been hanging around in towns between quests since the game launched, and my home is far preferable. So yes, I do want that.KanedaSyndrome wrote: »We need to be careful that we don't go the WoW garrison way, where it basically sucked people away from the cities, leaving them as ghost towns.. Would still have to go to town to pick up and deliver crafting writs.
Emphatic_Static wrote: »So, you buy a home, furnish the crap out of it, place your assistants, etc. You still have to go to town, not your home, for virtually everything... Why?
Because the merchant can't repair your items.
The banker can't grant access to guild banks and traders.
The smuggler can't launder items.
Now, I understand that these features should not be included in your assistants when in open world, this makes sense. It forces you to have to go to a town to repair (or buy crown repair kits, probably what they are hoping for), visit the bank for guild bank/traders, or use fence as the one from thieves guild can only buy stolen things, not launder them.
These decisions are perfectly fine, it promotes going to town for certain things, making towns a necessity.
WHY CAN'T YOUR ASSISTANTS HAVE FULL FEATURES WHEN IN THE HOME???!!!
There is no reason that you can not have the full abilities of the assistant while at home. It is doing ZOS's homestead patch a great disservice, as people find no point in participating if you have to go to town after each dungeon run regardless. Give the assistants the abilities the NPC counterparts in town have, and more people will want to get involved in housing, as essentially you can "build your own town", and feel actual purpose when standing in your home.
This change is literally better in every aspect than the current state of assistants, with absolutely no reason not to do so.
What say you?!

This.
Not only would those of us who have the assistants be very happy with this change, but an entire group of players would actually consider purchasing the assistants for crowns if they become more useful like this.
It will help the success of the housing patch.
It will make ZOS a bunch of money.
Why aren't they doing this again?

Because they want you to go to different areas and interact with NPCs and other players. They don't want the cities to become ghost towns. They want a MMO to appear like a MMO.
I'd buy a merchant if they were upgraded for homes.
Something else I would love to see - purchasable bard NPCs for the home (but only the home; no need for people dragging bards around elsewhere to be annoying). I miss listening to Malukah's lovely singing in the bank where I used to park my characters. It would bring a little more life into the larger homes.
