Does FTC and other outdated addons work correctly?

I use minion addon manager to constantly download and update ESO addons, and I've never used a single outdated addon cause I was afraid it might cause any bugs or crashes.

But, I noticed a lot of ppl still use FTC, AUI, and other outdated addons. Do they still perfectly work in current versions of ESO? If they do, Ima switch out my Wykkyd Suite right away and get FTC or AUI. If there are minor glitches, errors, or incompatibility, I'll probably stick with Wykkyd as it seems like less memory intensive compared to some of other combat information addons.

I haven't noticed any issues, but I don't use all the features. Honestly, unless the API has changed the add-ons should be working fine.

I use FTC and I've not noticed any issues. I'd give it a shot!

FTC works fine except for one thing.

This patch they broke the buff tracking. If you look at an enemy, it will show all the debuffs on the enemy, not just your own.

So FTC is useless for buff tracking in a trial. I still use it for health bars/UI elements but I have switched to Srendarrs for buff tracking.

I only use the separate window combat text box from FTC. When playing Sorcerer, It tracks the twilight passive healing when out of combat so it spams the chat. only annoyance I've had with it.

I also use the AUI for dark brotherhood patch someone put on there and it's worked for me.

Older screen shot, everything is fine for my setup.

Just to make it clear, issues such as this won't be fixed unless the writer updates the addon right?

Instead of FTC which hasn't been updated in almost a year you should try LUI Extended instead which is very similar and was updated just yesterday to fix the buff /debuff issues with the new API.

No Netchlings were harmed in the taking of that Screenshot, despite how it may look.

I do the opposite of the OP - I always enable all of my addons whether they're in date or not and wait to see if it causes problems. Some of the ones I use have been out of date for several patches but it's extremely rare that one doesn't work or causes problems. I don't think I've ever had one that caused the game to crash, the worst that happens is usually that the addon itself won't run.

One of mine, Binder (which saves your keybindings), I think has actually been out of date since I got it and it's always worked, but that's probably helped by it being a very simple addon.

As I understand it all addons have something that says which version of the game they're made for, and they're marked as out of date if that doesn't match the current version. But whether it actually affects the addon working (or the game working) depends on what was changed in the update. So an addon could say it's out of date because it was made for the previous version of the game but it will still work perfectly because the update didn't touch anything the addon uses. All it needs to make it in-date again is for the version tag to be changed.

So just to make it clear, addons like FTC is not "abandoned" by the writers, but simply is not updated as there is no need to update them? Or is it completely abandoned by its makers, but nevertheless works because the in game patches does not affect the way these outdated addons work?
