Reasons to be a Homeowner

You should totally buy a home cause _______________________________ and _______________________.

No really, I don't quite understand. Perhaps we should provide ZOS with some feedback on things they could do to give housing more meaning...

Top of my head - storage, gardens/nodes, horse training, rested/xp bonus, buy/sell/rent with players, mini-games (card tables), and ________.

Because some people find it fun to decorate their homes or duel in an area without lag.

If those are things you give no ****s about then housing is not for you, until they add features that you like, or never if they don't.

I do love the idea of furnishing a home and all.

Still saving up for my Gratwood home!
That medium home they have looks amazing.

Good on you for filling in the two blanks! I honestly think the idea behind housing is cool, and even how it adds to the market, I just think there's much much more they could do with it.

    1) Free wayshrines.

    2) If you can get them it gives you easier access to set crafting stations which are normally in annoying places (like the bottom of a dungeon).

    3) For some people it's fun to decorate them.

    4) For role-players it may be important that their character has a home, and it gives them a private instance to go to when they don't want a scene to be interrupted.

    5) Duellers can build private arenas.

Is it anything like the functionality housing could have, or does have in other games? No, obviously not.

Is it better than nothing? Probably. Is it better than what we could have gotten if they hadn't been working on housing? Hard to say, but it seems like most of their time lately has been focused on Morrowind (maybe ever since Dark Brotherhood came out) so we wouldn't have gotten anything that took a lot of time and effort or art/designer skills. Since the houses are items already existed this features seems to have been created mainly by the people who do the UI. Presumably anything else we could have gotten would have been similar.

Obviously I'm hoping they expand on housing in future, I've got my wish-list for new features like everyone else, but for a free update (yes with optional crown store purchases/gold sink) at a time when they could easily have given us nothing it's not bad.

My free room in some Ebonheart inn has a small cup in it & a candle. The candle allows me to see the cup, the cup catches my tears I cry at being in a small box with a candle & a cup. I don't allow duels in my box, someone might knock over the cup & put the candle out. I invited 2 friends but only one could fit at a time. He didn't stay long, he said it was the most depressing thing he had ever seen in a game before. I was /sit5 in a corner at the time... it was pretty sad.

So, sure, I could use it as a free teleport access point, but I'd rather not.

Because if you put your mind to it you can make some pretty amazing things....one of the most popular parts of Fallout 4 turned out to be the settlement building and this feels like it could eventually have the potential to be great.

Definitely much more that could be added. I personally like finding the blueprint and such to decorate how I like so for me it's been fun. Of course I take my time to get everything just right but as long as I'm enjoying it. Yeah as of right now though, without some functionality it's a limited number of players interested.

Because you like idea of having a house and decorating in the ESO world.

Stop thinking about it as something to improve your character or a change to the rest of the game and think of it as another game system, like PVP or Group dungeons or whatever.

Households are CONTENT in their own right. They ARE the mini game.

    ..because you can.

If home ownership does nothing for you, just leave it alone and keep playing the game as you have been doing and leave others to enjoy it if they want to.

I don't like TG or DB DLCs so I do not play them, but it does not bother me if others want to enjoy them. I just keep stepping over corpses in every other town I enter and resist any urge to complain about it.

If you need other people to "convince" you with reasons to own an in-game homestead, you probably should not own an in-game homestead. I'm very happy PS4 and XBOX players have caught up to the rest of us, but these types of threads have been done already ad nauseum since PC release. I'd much rather people necro threads than start this process all over again, making the forums completely un-enjoyable until people stop talking about it again lol. At this point, very few suggestions are an original idea.

    I agree.
As an XB1 player I have had a treasure trove of information from all of you PC players. Anyone looking for information on features, add-ons, DLC, and updates can easily look into the forums to see them ALL discussed here from the PC side. Not very much changes from PC to XB1. None that I can really see anyhow. Most if not all the content is the exact same.

Think of it as a Big Brother Little Brother relationship here...XB1 and PS4 being the younger and PC being the older going through the motions and trials before passing it onto us here.
