Not that it means anything. The way Zo$ is and that they give 10% more stars to ESO+ members, that is p2w if i have ever seen it. It is disgusting and Zo$ should be ashamed.

What exactly "levels" you up on these forums? I got to 3 stars relatively quickly and have not moved in a long time.

Each Insightful, Agree, or Awesome gives you 1 forum point. Each accepted answer I believe does the same. Badges give 10 points.

    Level 3 is 250 points, and 4 is 500 points. 5 is 1000. I think Level 6 is 2000, but I am not sure. Level 10 is 10000 I guess.

I heard the word 'forumite' before and I thought it might be a chemical or an alloy or something. But I learned something today: A person who posts comments in a particular Internet forum, typically on a regular basis. Cool :)

Actually it goes back to EQ1 days. I first heard it in 1999. It's acknowledged with a friendly 'grats'. No need to pick this apart too...

So, if I feel the irrepressible need to have my level gain acknowledged by strangers, I say "Ding!" and then you reply with the truncated "Grats!", thus validating me? And this makes us cool?

Edit: The absolute fastest way to get stars is to start a complaint thread. Try something either obvious or very controversial, then make outlandish claims with little to no evidence. Point to a website or some other player, then wrap it up with a vague and completely irrelevant meme. Boom, 7 stars.

Edit Edit: Looking at some of the above comments... pretty accurate, no?

The other good way is to be the white knight in a complaint thread. Show no fear and constantly come back to keep the thread bumped even though you claim you hate complaint threads and that this one is pointless. It helps if you can some how make yourself look important and the person complaining like they dont matter. Try these handy phrases, I can afford it, why cant you? I did it, stop being lazy. My whole guild loves it, it is just the vocal minority that hates it. Why are you playingnigyou hate the game? How much is WoW paying you to post on our forums?

    Boom, 7 stars.

You get points for badges, too. I had sort of forgotten this since the long-ago beta thread about the stars and how they work while people experimented with them until one time I clicked on a forumite's name (can't remember who, just that it was a woman) and to my utter astonishment she has something like 250 "question threads answers accepted."

That's insanity. Hardly any question threads are opened per day, and most of them are not really answerable. Even if they are the poster has to know they can be marked as answered. Also, they're not tracked like Insightfuls where you can see how many you have. Must be one truly informative poster.

If only there were some way to track the ratio of "posted correct information minus posted misinformation simply made up."

You'd think that, but a lot of the most fatuous and pointless new thread spammers recently are brand new to the forums and are a long way off from even 4 stars. People who just want to hear themselves talk without even reading the first whole paragraph of the OP, too, are very common here. You'd think they're all mentally deranged until you realize they've only read the thread title, said the first thing that comes to mind, then moved on to the next one.

I've gotten my "ding" conditioning from PSN trophies, horrible afflicition it is. If I hear too many I have this terrible urge to try and 100% a game....

Been splurging a bit of time in ESO recently and I caught myself looking at the trophy list last night working out where the next ding would come from.

Well, it was something to do while the 20GB download completed.
