ZoS have a terrible track record of dealing with bots however I assumed they would double down in order to avoid players being able to buy gold from Gold sellers rather than Crowns through the store in order to get their houses / items.

I think they're working on these reports, but I do believe they are working on a backlog and are about three weeks behind.

@ZOS_GinaBruno I PM'd you the ticket numbers. There were bots in another zone. They are probably there right now. they have been there for two days straight. 24/7. Their bot program is pretty elaborate.

    Why
@hamburgerler76 Do you happen to have a copy of your ticket number from your report?

Why not just log into the game and see first hand yourself? Seems like the easiest solution. They are pretty much there 24/7

That said, is there a way to "page" a GM in game who can come to where you are at? Other mmorpgs have done this. Seems like it should be a service feature for people who pay for ESO+.

Because the game is instanced and it's easier to track the player names and travel to their location then searching each phase for those players .

I don't like the bots, but a word of warning to all who understandably want them gone.

As a trader, the bots being removed would be extremely good for my bottom line, but not for yours.

I think you underestimate how much additional resources hiring just one GM would cost. The requirements to work through tickets while simultaneously being available is time consuming. Back in the days of Ultima Online I did this on small servers and it was very hard to meet a decent SLA.

I agree it would be a great feature, but maybe it could be implemented like state troopers at quota time, every so often do sweeps for bots, crack down hard, do IP bans, and keep it moving. No extra employees needed.

You must not have been here right after launch when a bazillion bots disappeared practically overnight. Botting was insane in delves and one day we walked into some and they were like ghost towns.

It boggles the mind that their software can auto ban someone sending an email to their guild with certain words in it but they can't somehow flag an account that lists 30 stacks of clean pelts in a row on guild stores multiple times a day.

These Bots are everywhere. I've heard people report them in Stonefalls, and here with Betnikh, I've found them myself in Rivinspire and just recently over a dozen of them in Glenumbra. They're all Sorcs with numerous spammed pets. As well as camping Dolmens all over the place.

Nothing will happen. I've reported bots, submitted video, listed @ names and tried to get them stopped. I've had GMs confirm they've seen the reports. Days later... still there. And at this point I don't think ZOS feels the bots are a problem because they're always in the same places.

If ZOS was against the bots they'd check for them. We used to do this when I was with Ultima Online's support team. It was a basic part of the job. If Area X is always known for botting then randomly pop in and monitor things. Takes a few minutes to verify everything is on the up and up then go back to your duties.

    You get a cookie.

Bots, curse their souls, are helping to keep the price of mats down. We get rid of them, prices go up, my endless stacks of material start going for double what they are worth now.

Bot infestation became really bad soon after the launch and one of the reasons why I put the game on hold for a long time but they managed to get rid of bots by the time I returned. For all practical purposes anyway.

So, one wonders what has changed and why the bots are allowed to make a comeback. Savings in surveillance program licenses, probably. If so, they are shooting themselves on the foot.

I used to host my private MMO and FPS servers (had a little gaming community back in the day, well except for the FPS, was 2nd ranking in North and Eastern Europe). Even with small amount of players in comparison to these giant AAA games it is so incredibly difficult to keep up, sieve through the reports, investigate them, find them, check them, establish if what they're doing is truly cheating etc. Even with numerous volunteer GM's working for me it was a very time consuming job, and that's just a private hobby-driven community project that is only a fraction of the size of a game like this.

I can sympathise to an extent, but then again, they shouldn't have laid off hundreds of customer service reps and GM's. I'm sure they would've helped the issue at hand a great deal, even if they are outsourced. Don't need to be in the same building to read and investigate a ticket, log in the game and check it out.

I always wonder if PC has as many bots as ppl think or jus if ppl like above arent confusing bots w/ grinding. The ppl farming dolmens are getting xp. They dont ever grab loot b4 it despawns.

How can you be auto banned from sending an mail with swear words?
why would it matter as the filter would block the words anyway.
    Has this ever happened?
Or was it more someone who sent an harassing / threatening mail and was banned manually

I know you can get an automatic social lockout by spamming.

You can not ban people because of selling, he might be buying low and selling high.
Now it would be very possible to make an automatic anti bot system on server.
Easiest would be to focus on bot hotspots to reduce the amount of data, tag them as suspects and log behavior.
an character standing still for hours doing one attack is rubberbanding.
An farmers or grinders running an loop is harder to catch, first look for play length, less than an hour ignore, more and you has to analyze movement if its repeating very well for hours you have an bot.
Gold sellers are easier, look for players who only farm, no other activity, probably trading mats to other player.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.
