There are a number of towns and villages in ESO's High Rock, but how do these fit with the established towns and villages we know from Arena and Daggerfall? Now it's clear that some of them just haven't been built yet. But some of the others should have been.
For starters, where is Glenpoint? Glenpoint is supposed to be a town near Daggerfall that existed through 1E 609 right up to (and beyond) the Third Era, so why is there no sign of Glenpoint in ESO? Based on the Daggerfall game map, it should be in the hills above Daggerfall city, about where Baelborne Rock is in ESO. But Baelborne Rock has its own history, which doesn't mention Glenpoint at all.
Next up is Anticlere. Called Reich Gradkeep in Arena, this town shifted from where it was in Arena (about where Deleyn's Mill is in ESO) further up the coast, to about where Aldcroft is in ESO. Is Aldcroft the precursor to Reich Gradkeep/Anticlere?
Tulune is mentioned in a cargo ledger in ESO, and yet there's no sign of it in the world - it should be located just up the coast from Daggerfall.
The regions of Northmoor, Phrygias and Ykalon are also conspicuous by their absence. These should be located partway up the west side of Glenumbra, but all we see there are Farwatch and Westtry. Northmoor is mentioned in books beyond its appearance in Daggerfall, while Phrygias and Ykalon are home to the ancient woodlands of Skeffington and Ykalon Forest respectively, which seem to have been inexplicably replaced with the barren and marshy Cambray Hills.
Speaking of Cambray, perhaps that is the naming precursor to Kambria. But it's not in the right place to be so. Crosswych, however, is about where Kambria should be.
Eagle's Brook appears in both Arena and ESO, so that should be alright, right? No. For some reason, ESO put Eagle's Brook on the wrong side of Camlorn. Where Eagle's Brook is in ESO would be about where Northmoor or Phrygias should be; Eagle's Brook itself should be north of Camlorn, around where they put Merovec's Folly.
Dwynnen is another place with an important history that should have existed since the First Era. Maybe Dwynnarth Ruins sits near the site that will later be Dwynnen, but that doesn't explain why it's not there now.
Koeglin Village may well be the precursor to the town of Koegria.
Portdun Creek may have developed from Firebrand Keep, as the keep has a outwork called Portdun Watch.
Alcaire, Menevia, Gavaudon and Wayrest exist in both ESO and Daggerfall, and Wind Keep can be found in both ESO and Arena.
Norvulk Hills may well have been built on the Norvulk Ruins.
So, what do you guys think? Is there an official stance on any of this that I don't know? What I'm most interested in is what has happened to Glenpoint, Anticlere, Northmoor, Phrygias and Kambria, as they seem to be historically important towns that have been missed out of ESO without explanation.
