Leveling Legerdemain quick now?

What is the quickest way to level Legerdemain now?
It used to be slaughtering sheep on Khenarthi's Roost and selling the guts but now the shepards level with you so you can't oneshot them to avoid a bounty.
3 new classes. 3 new spellcasters. Zenimax has forgotten how to make melee classes.

Put a point in Trafficker when you can

Steal as much as you can, then sell the good stuff and launder the 1g items until you hit the fence limit

Good spots: Wayrest Castle and Bank

Or do the Tip Board quests from the Thieves Guild to earn a nice amount of gold on the side :p

Yeah fencing stuff seems to give the most xp. You can do it by just opening chests but it will take you years. I find the best way to gather stuff to fence is actually by killing npcs with the blade of woe (from dark brotherhood dlc) and then looting their corpses. It's easier to get away without bounty this way; pickpoketing is very risky. Good places to go on a blade of woe spree are anvil or kevatch, but any settlement in tamriel will do. Be careful if you're also vamp because the blade of woe activation is a synergy like the feeding option, I've accidentally fed on npcs when meaning to BoW them and it's very annoying.

Blade of Woe for those shepherds and the problem is solved. I think silencing the lambs is still the fastest way to level legerdemain.

Auridon - opening city Vukly guard.

Run a circuit between the alchemy shop to the beach along the beach toward the main town around the corner by where the writs drop off up the hill and back behind the buildings to the alchemy shop.

There are seven NPCs who are out of sight of any guards. two of them are in a pair talking but one walks to the railing and then you can gut them.

Along the way are several logs, some mudcrabs and no guards you have to worry about and they respawn quickly.

more importantly, you can be running tier-1 writs while you do this as it is the direct path between drop off and pick-up craft.

i used to run this daily with every character do the gut-them circuit on at the start, pick up writs, complete writs, run the circuit again on the way back thru. thats 14 easy kills all while doing writs and gaining loot and xp. Can only get bounty if you screw up. (this assumes Db and blade of woe for instant non-bounty kills.) may not be the fastest strictly speaking bu i watch a lot of legerd rises as i did this again and again over lotsa characters and it is very profitable almost free addition to
    lotsa quickie tier-1 writs

only problem, quite a few folks know it so... best at off times.

So dont tell anyone else, ok?

Try the Greedy Gut tavern in Orsinium if you have the DLC or are subbed. Make sure to go everywhere in there - upstairs, downstairs, etc. There is quite a bit of stuff in there to steal, and with most of it, you are in rooms that have NO NPCs**.
Most of the time, you don't even have to sneak, just walk through the rooms and pick up everything. Once you have cleared the place out, go launder your stuff and then come back and do it again. (not sure how long it takes to reset, but it isn't too long)

**I have completed the Wrothgar quest line, so I am not sure if the place is still mostly uninhabited if you have not completed the zone.

Just steal everything and fence. You don't need to loot containers or pickpocket, just grab everything lying around: potions, armor, weapon, food.

Evermore behind the bank has a spot where you can steal a bunch of stuff and get no bounty. On top of it the thieves refuge is pretty close to it too.

...killing npcs with the blade of woe (from dark brotherhood dlc) and then looting their corpses. ...
You can pickpocket them first once or twice, and THEN kill them with the blade of woe. You can get loot up to three times this way.

But yeah, I've found the fastest way to raise leger is to fence a LOT of stuff. Just looking for chests to pick takes forever.

If you don't care about profit when you do it, looting the ships in Daggerfall is quite efficient. There's no guards on them and you'll typically steal about 80-100 items per ship. The entrance to the Outlaw's Den is nearby. Just grab everything from the boats, go to the den. Sort it by value. Fence the stuff that's worth more than 1g, launder the 1g stuff. Go back and do it again if you have more fence uses.

The fence uses/day limit causes this method to take a while. I guess whether or not this method qualifies as "quick" depends on how you define quick. It probably requires the least time investment. Other methods that don't require fence uses will get it done sooner though, with higher time investment.

I'm levelling two characters at the same time, while farming for housing blueprints. Just place two characters somewhere where you have a lot of containers and some easy killed ncp, and steal/lill/loot everything then log on your second character and do the same thing.

I only sell the green/blue items, I can get the 140 item limit for both selling and cleaning really easily, and with a lot of blueprints and money.
With high-level legerdemain, I also can pickpocket everything at 100% for more items, gold and level.

There is a warehouse in the starter city in auridon with 20 barrels and no guards. Collect everything and relog. Get 100+ items in 15 Mins to fence and launder.

Go to Khenarthi's Roost go to the Temple of the Mourning you will find sheeps near it kill the sheep herders (there are 2, one shoot them to not get a bounty) kill the sheep and wait till they spawn keep doing this until you have alot of hide/guts whatever they drop.

NEVER MIND! I saw you already was doing this lol I didn't read that part my bad. you can still one shot them if you have high damage.

Simple answer is... killing sheep is STILL the fastest way. Using DB's 'Blade of Woe', you can still sneak behind shepherds and kill them, then clean out the sheep. You easily rack up hundreds of guts and meat in just a few runs and max out Fence interactions day after day until the skill line is maxed... still takes a few days because of restrictions on number of Fence interactions per day though. Normally I end up running out of guts and meat every couple of days because it takes a LOT of individual pieces to level up the skill line... so I just go sheep hunting when I'm out, but it's still the least amount of time you need to spend collecting individual items because you gain several guts/meat with each looted sheep.

The apples in craglorn just south of the city I think is super fast and easy. No profits though really but each basket gives a couple apples usually to sell

I use the Greedy Gut as well. go in steal everything and in about 4 trips through you are at your limit. opening chests will level the skill also and there is no limit on them.

I agree, the Apple orchard in Belkarth(Craglorn) works great. The best part is the outlaw refuge is right there and the apples respawn each time you enter/exit the refuge.
