After I updated the graphics card driver of my AMD 290 card I have been experiencing this flicker issue in game. Anyone know the cause?

I'm having the same issue. it's the grass flickering. That can be turned off temporarily until a fix is found.

Typically, graphical artifacts occur when a graphics card is overheated, overclocked, or the drivers are incorrect for the hardware.
This can be damaging for your graphics card; you should probably reinstall your drivers and ensure that you are not engaging in overclocking the card.

    Ebondwind,

Try rolling back to your previous driver. Or an older one.

Having same problem. I'm not overclocked and they say the driver is compatible with my card. Guess I'll try to roll back to older driver version.

Update: Yes rolling back to past driver fixes the problem. So, I guess its an AMD problem?

Thanks for the concern. The temperatures are fine at around 60-70 for the GPU at max load and I don't overclock. Rolling back to the previous driver version seems to be a temporary fix.

It's indeed a bug in recent AMD drivers. Rolling back to the last 16.x driver fixes it.

Please use the AMD Feedback option to report the issue to AMD.

Actually I am at 17.3.3 and rolling back to 16 is not an option. There is a new update to 17.4.3, I'm a member of the AMD forums so I'll start rattling cages over there. I waited three + days to update my PTS to get on the server to find this issue. I have been playing ESO since the original Betas and it's never been a problem before. I have an R7 370 with 4gb DDR5 in case anyone else needs to know these specs. I started playing the game with an R9 270 with 2gb DDR3 and neither card has ever had an issue before. I'm also running MSI afterburner and overheating is not an issue and I do not overclock my cards my system is running Win7 with 16gb ram it's a 4.2 AMD CPU. Any way like I said I'll look over at AMD forums and find out any info I can,BUT I will not roll back my driver, There has to be a more comprehensible fix and the new driver may be it.

    Update:

I was just over at the AMD support forums and posted some questions on a thread about this problem, one thing that's strange, I was on ESO last month and didn't notice any issues, anyhow I made some inquiries and let them know we need a real fix. It seems one person says that 17.4.2 which was an optional driver fixed the issue that was posted on 04/15/17, I'm going to try to use 17.4.3 and see what happens. For those who use AMD check here. do not update cards 390x and lower past 16.11.5 the newer drivers have wattman and its bugged with them, also, they have a bug thats part of amd's attempts to get dx11 overhead down, that leads to grass and some other textures flickering.

add to that the last 2 patches introducing some VERY weird graphical performance issues not related to what driver you are running.

there is ZERO reason to upgrade past 16.11.5 with a 390x and lower, you wont see perf gains and you will see weird issues amd are still trying to fix...i hear they are looking at moving all the old gen cards back to overdrive and using wattman for all the newer cards.......if they can get dx11 overhead down without visual errors/flickering....thats no bad thing.

i moved to a 1070 because of the driver issues and lack of fixes since the driver whos files are dated my bday last year.... the 16.11.5's...

i still have my 290x...stick with the 16.11.5...specially for eso...

If you're using Crimson, driver 17.4.3 fixed the issue for me R7-370 4gb DDR5. No special settings only ingame ones, only thing I had to do was put water effects at medium because of slight flicker it went away and water looks fine. everything else is at high or ultra,.
