Cyrodiil Delves are some major BS

So I decided to make an effort to clear all the delves, dolmens, and POI's in Cyrodiil for achievements and overall completion. You would think running into opposing players would be the biggest danger or hurdle to overcome in this, right? Well, you'd be wrong.

First in Red Ruby Cave I killed one boss and I didn't clear. I check Google and there's a second boss in the east room but I waited for around 15 minutes and he didn't spawn so I got bored and left. Next was Toadstool Hollow. After killing the initial 2 bosses I again didn't clear so I hopped on Google again and there are 4 bosses in this one, but here's the funny part, only one spawns back at a time! And even better is one of the bosses is apparently rare in spawning! I spent AN HOUR waiting for that last boss to spawn and he NEVER did.

Are you serious ZOS? Trying to escape all this RNG crap in this game and now delve bosses are apparently RNG here. What a joke. I would love to meet the person who thought these spawn rates were fine for Cyrodiil delves. No other delves in the rest of the game operate like this so it's baffling it would be different for Cyrodiil.

You were just lucky if you got all 4 at once. Most of the time it's only one or two.

EDIT: Not sure if that was meant sarcastically or not.

I think the delayed boss spawning mechanics in Cyro delves are intentionally designed so that it's harder for people to run in, kill all bosses and get out fast. Sometimes you get lucky and don't have to spend much time in a particular delve and other times, yeah it's annoying.

I have a theory that the bosses might be shared between the delves.

    As in,
    delve 1 has bosses A, B and C,
    delve 2 has bosses D, E and F,

but between the six of them, only 4 can be up simultaneously.
So if boss D is up in delve 2, you can sit in delve 1 waiting for boss A to spawn forever, and it never will unless D dies first.

Delve-bosses in Cyrodiil share a spawn timer. It's RNG which one of the different bosses spawns. When you kill one and he respawns again, you have to kill him again to enable the other bosses to spawn.

So just kill the bosses of a delve over and over until you spawned them all.

I have all delves cleared as well as tamriel hero on 2 chars. I like the delve clear achievement because its actually an achievement. You need to kill bosses for new one to spawn. Every boss cannot be up at the same time, and it's random who spawns. So run around and kill all bosses, don't camp.

yeah.. very annoying. I did this in the early morning on a weekend, so there weren't any other players to "steal" the kill or harass me.
And you better bring a mobile game or a good book for the wait between boss spawns. Sometimes I had to do 1-2 bosses a dozen times until the one missing boss spawned eventually.

LOL so Cyrodiil delves are not only pretty tiresome because of potential players killing you and the horrible performance but there are rare bosses as well you need to get the achievement - that really sounds like fun!

Depends on whether you get killed by a mob or a player/Alliance NPC, same as anywhere else.

I wrote the guide here on the forums for how to get this achievement back in I think June of 2014. Only very recently does it seem that one of the bosses will refuse to spawn and I only noticed this showing PvEers around, helping them get skyshards and such. I didn't notice it in this particular delve but oddly in the one with all the lightning bugs with only three bosses, and the one with the troll that fights the giant bat. The latter seems especially messed up at the moment.

The PvE portion of Cyrodiil is even more worthwhile to do than ever. The delve boss AP boost, the upped AP reward for the capturable towns with 250 AP for very quick and easy PvE quests nearby (needed for the achievements anyway). Way, way cheaper Sets from the boxes from the NPCs in the capturable towns. I think I might write a guide about all that.

To reiterate what I've said many, many times. If you go to an underpopulated campaign and do PvE things there's virtually no chance of running into other players. You can fish in full view of the AD gates for an hour. I take people there all the time in Haderus PC/NA and never once stealth, just rocket around with rapids in full view.

And if you die? At most you have a ride back to where you were. If you're killed by another player you don't even take damage to your armor, so in a way it's less unpleasant than being killed by a wasp. If you avoid the PvP objectives like paths between keeps and resources not only will no one encounter you but there's really no reason to go chasing you down. Whereas by PvP objectives it's imperative that you chase someone down if you're a PvPer as you never know if someone's putting down an FC or messing with your resources. Gankers aren't real PvPers but even they aren't hanging around in a delve for 1000 hours just to see the 3 people a week who happen by. In fact, in a delve, you can typically tell if someone's been in there ahead of you as there's a load of dead mobs or at least clear areas. When I see cleared mobs most of the time I never see the other player as they stealth up and wait, afraid of being attacked. Or if they do the "I don't want to fight" emote of hopping up and down while blocking respect that, don't freak out and attack them out of fear, and they might help you kill the boss. You can /w them if their name isn't unspellable with diacritics, too, and just chat, tell em you come in peace.

I have the "Explorer' title on three characters, I won't be doing it again on my remaining ones, as much as I enjoyed the delves, I'm actually embarrassed to admit I waited nearly four hours, keeping my head down, avoiding other players all factions, killing the same respawning bosses until the one I needed to clear the delve spawned.

The feeling of elation though, once completed was a mixture of pure joy, but also disbelief that I'd spent so long in the same delve. A guildie I was chatting to throughout the experience, thought I was quite insane to spend so much time in seeking my end goal. His support and encouragement was appreciated. Oddly, the time did pass by quite quickly.

Good luck to all who seek that most coveted title of "Explorer'!

I was lucky myself. There's only like, one delve that has 5 bosses and I got that cleared first, and I think RNG was kind to me cause I managed to clear it in under a half hour I think? The majority of the other delves have at most 2 or 3 bosses. My Guild Master came with me on my merry quest through enemy lands to clear the rest in one night and at the end we were dancing to my new Explorer title. :p

Bear in mind falling deaths, too. You can rez in place. This is not of dying to slaughtefish, but they're only in the inner lake around the IC and the ocean past the road leading from the AD gates in the East (well, that's where ocean fish start; the slaughterfish start around the channel around Bravil). Not sure what you mean about using shrines. if a player kills you you can rez at your home Gates, at any Keep or outpost or a capturable town - it's actually a better way to travel than the transit lines, as even if they're cut you can rez in any of the listed places. We call it "bloodporting".

So... this can matter more or less depending on the campaign you're in and what your Alliance controls. If you log in and the entire map is yellow - and you're blue - well, you could be in for a considerable ride! Luckily, you get to pick 2 of the 3 campaigns (one home, one guest) if you're over level 50, so shop around. Go to one where transit isn't that bad. If you put on 3 pieces of Cyrodiil's Ward armor and slot Rapid Maneuvers, though, your horse is very, very, very fast. Also, outside of Trueflame, you may find some of the only lag-free play in Tamriel.

Also, if you have a fully leveled speed and stamina mount a ganker cannot knock you off your horse or kill you at full gallop if you just keep going and ignore them with ranged attacks. You'd have to somehow literally ride right over them for them to one-shot you in transit.

Yeah, the cyrodil dwelve bosses can be a pain in the a... posterior.

Vexed me too when I learned they respawn randomly... at the end of the timer, one boss respawns, up to the gods of the die roll which one... so you either wait -ages- for the one you are still missing, or you make your rounds, kill them over and over and over until the one you want spawns.

But hey... noone said all the achievements would be easy, right? So what if it takes more then one quick run to get that one... I did half a dozend runs to collect the missing bosses when I went for that achievement... its not -that- much of an aggrivation since you get shiny nice CP en passant...

There's one delve cant remember the name off hand where there's two bosses, the one in the DC part where you have to burn two corpses for one of the Cyrodiil dailies. I've been in there probably more than 100 times (used to use it to farm exp).

What I noticed was that if I am the only one in there, whenever I went in, it was always the same boss that had spawned, the one on the same level as the corpses you burn, and each time I went in, I had to kill that one first, in order to get the other one down the stairs to appear.

Whether that's just the rng playing with me, I don't know, but there seems to be nothing random about it. The only time this isn't the case is if theres others in there hence the first boss has already been killed.

That being said, while I fully understand the OPs pov and can see why many agree with them, part of the problem with this game in my opinion is that most things are so so easy to achieve, go in a public dungeon with loads of bosses, you can clear them all in one run easily (and by yourself). This makes the need to go back into those dungeons to be zero unless you are farming one for a particular item.

And as people are used to this, they naturally get frustrated when the rng comes into play in Cyrodiil.

Personally I don't think any public dungeon should be able to be cleared first time, even if you spent 5 hours in there, then there would be some replay-ability to them.

I don't have a problem with the way Cyrodiil bosses work for the above reason, it gives me a reason to keep going back,

Not my experience at all on the PC EU servers and I tend to do this when most people aren't online, even less so when those who work day times are playing in the early evening etc.

Sure you are less likely to be killed on a less populated server, but I do do exactly that and regardless of which of my alliances I'm playing, I still regularly run into one or two players that try to kill me, and 6 months ago I would have lasted 5 seconds when I did meet them, thankfully I've improved a little , hence it's more often a fair fight, although I still die approx 4 times more than I survive, at least it's no longer me dying every time :)

I was in a low populated server in Goblin cave, just me and a much higher CP player from another alliance. They sent me a message along the lines of "you have a choice, get out of this dungeon so I can farm in peace, or I will kill you", end result they killed me :)
