Hey! Keep in mind i'm mostly gonna quest and explore solo and just enjoy the game. Sure I might do group stuff later on but mainly will play solo.

I will try the Templar as my first toon and I wonder if a staff would be a nice build? Somewhat like a Seer or Oracle from the vikings history...

Anyone tried a Staffplar?

Yes, a magic Templar with light armor and a staff is a good choice

At end game magplar benefits from using dual wield + destro back bar

For doing solo quests and stuff you could play a magplar with a battleaxe and be fine :D

so yeah using a staff should be absolutely fine

Oh nice! Sounds awesome! I played a bit on PC and remember that each weapons unlock specific skills, I will experiment some builds while I play.

That's the best way to go. Learn from experience.

Just go Magicka route with the Templar. Of course pick a High Elf as your race.

Yup they're awesome! Make some crafter buddies and ask them to make you a set of Kagrenacs hope. You could couple that with Law of Julianos or Magnus and be a fab magpler for damage and healing. Destro staff on damage hand and resto staff on the other and you're laughing :)

Yes you can go with lightning and fire or mix a rejuv staff with fire or light. I'd suggest not to use a frost staff

High Elf magicka Templar with dual wield and fire staff is a great choice for a new player. High survivability and resource management. You'll be able to solo just about everything.

Yeah, magica templars make the best healers, and excellent DPS toons. Light armor robes, one resto staff for healing, one destro staff for killing, switch weapons as needed... it is probably one of the easiest classes to run, all around.
If you want the extra effectiveness, you may wish to go altmer or breton as race, but that is not a must unless you really want to play with the min/maxxers in PvP or something.
In the end, the setup has a lot of fun and good stuff for a "holy priest" type of character. Golden light healing, golden light burning and golden light magic spears... be it healing or harming, they do well throughout the board.
