New Stam Sorc Build

xtremeone
xtremeone
Whats up everyone. This is my first post in the forum. I have been researching a stam sorc build. I have everything put together but I have a question. When it comes to healing what is the best option. I was thinking DW and two handed with rally and vigor but i kinda like the running a bow. So if i take two hand off and lose rally will crit surge be enough to keep me healed? With the build editor i used stats look pretty nice. I think. I have crit chance at 99.9% and weapon damage with major brutality is at 3.8k. and with weapon enchant proc 4.3k. Will crit surg be enough or should i run rally instead? Just started this character two days ago and still have some leveling to do. Got to 30 last night. I am at 561 but only played templar and nightblade builds.

Dual wield daggers. Use crit surge, blood craze, blood thirst, and hurricane. I also like to throw in blade cloak for the extra aoe procs and aoe damage reduction.

If you need more healing than that, use vigor.

Back bar the bow and use it to apply extra buffs, endless hail, and venom injection. You want as much damage over time stacked on enemies as possible to ensure you're constantly getting critical surge procs
    PS4 / NA
    M'asad - Khajiit Nightblade - Healer
Pakhet - Khajiit Dragonknight - Tank
Raksha - Khajiit Sorcerer - Stamina DPS
Bastet - Khajiit Templar - Healer
Leonin - Khajiit Warden - Tank

The build i have setup will use dual wield daggers. Thanks for the suggestions i will change a few things around. Need to add some extra aoe for sure. :)

For what content? In PVE, dont give 2H a second thought. DW/Bow all day. Get your heals from Crit Surge, Blood Thirst, Blood Craze, and vigor. You can go back and forth on the damage vs healing morph of the DW skills depending on the content you are doing and as you get more comfortable. I also dont typically run vigor in PVE unless I am in VMA (not even needed there but its handy). Crit surge alone is a ton of healing.

In PVP, its a totally different story. I personally like DW in PVP, but there are certainly good arguments for 2H and even sword and board. Dark Converison/Dark Exchange can be really strong here as well.

Yeah I mostly PVP. Leveling in sewers and in the city. I think I will use Dark Deal for the stam restore. What do they consider a critical strike? I played a little bit at lunch and never really seen the 2500 heal they speak of. My rotation starts with Blood Craze then over to a Blood Thirst spam Weaving in light attacks about every other use. I make sure to keep Crit Surge and Hurricane up as much as possible. I dont have trouble staying alive really and my health never really goes below 75 percent with ads. I have had a run in with a few players and always die.(except a 419 magic night blade that got negated) I am still a level 30 so not worried about it currently but I do want to make sure that heals are going to be sufficient. What kind of rotation would you suggest? I still leveling 2H and havnt started bow because I thought I needed rally.

Bro you need crit surge, run that with bound augements that will be all the healing you need once you get enough champion points.

Like he said, crit surge, bound armaments (extra phys resist, extra hvy attack dmg, extra max stam), and hurricane are a lethal trio. I use dark deal to help sustain stamina, but be aware of the 1s channel time. Heavy attack and bloodthirst. Make sure you put crit surge on your bow bar so that you can utilize brutality. With that high of crit chance, I presume you are using daggers with precise? Remember that in PVP, most players are running around with heavy crit resist, so other than the crit surge, that high of crit will not be as effective. Consider switching to swords, sharpened, and/or the crusher enchant on one of the weapons. Lots of options depending on your play style...enjoy!!!

If you are still struggling with this set up (and you shouldn't be except on group/vet/trial content), then consider wearing briarheart set, it is not META but it is very cheap in guildstores. As you will be critting on almost every hit with loads of AoE's and DoT's your weapon damage will be higher for most of any fight (meaning better heals from your healing abilities) and every single crit (including those from blade cloak, huricane and poison injection) will heal you. Crit surge has a 1 second cool down between heals, but briarheart heals on every single crit for 10 seconds, so against large numbers of mobs briarheart will out heal crit surge (and the bonus weapon damage from briarthorns is buffed by crit surge - so they complement eachother)

I run it on my favourite stam sorc, and you can run into any fight and not need to worry about healing for the 10 seconds briarthorns is up (even in group dungeons were you get incapacitated, the DoT crits are enough to heal you through it)
#1 tip (Re)check your graphics settings periodically - especially resolution.

Have you tried this in PVP? Do you wear the Briarheart med armor or weapons/jewelry?

I do realize that sharpened weapons maybe better. Still trying to decide what would be best for my play style. I want to be able to heal very well and still trying to figure out crit surge. It says you heal for 3000 when you crit strike a player. Is that any critical attack? From any source? Because that would be insane 3k per second heal pretty much up at all times with my crit basically at 100%. I know the high crit is not as effective against tanky heavy armor so i may trade for a sharpened dagger. looks like i will actually as im just looking at the numbers.

Crit is still at 95 with a sharpened dagger. Also added crusher enchant. 3.8k penetration. Numbers look good compared to the other builds i have seen comparing the effective weapon damage. I have it set to 30k resistance with 2500 impen and numbers look very decent. Not everyone(but most) wears heavy so i hope those poor fools will melt.

I'm confused. Are you wanting a build for PvP or PvE? In PvE, dual wield/bow is a must but all you need is crit surge. You don't need bloodthirst; use rapid strikes instead for more damage. You can use blood craze if you want but rending slashes is better. You will get so much healing from crit surge the higher your damage that it will be all you need. Also, if you use Rend as your ultimate, you will get even more healing from that.

You can add/subtract from a healing-received number by messing with your CP and certain passives but Crit Surge heals for 60% of the damage done on a crit strike. So that number is influenced by the damage you're doing on a crit strike.

This is a PVP build. I rarely do PVE unless farming. I think you have crit surge and Bloodthirst confused. At least from what i read Crit Surge does a flat number heal every time you crit every second and Bloodthirst does 60%. Please correct me if im wrong. Because my level 32 shows 2700 heal each second with Crit Surge.

Made a few change including crit damage boon instead of crit chance.

Well now that's a good question. On my eso app, it shows 60% of crit damage but I also see the flat rate on stats other places. If your tooltip on crit surge says flat rate, then I'd go with that.

It seems more like 60% or less because i never see the 2700 pop up. Thats why i was confused as to what actually gives the heal. Is its any crit from any source?

I'm pretty sure it's any crit damage. It's possible that CP points and passives will affect the overall number, but I don't have facts to back that up.

I have like 635 cp so that sholdnt be a problem. Guess i will just have to finish leveling. lol

What CP do you have in Precise Strikes, Blessed, and Quick Recovery?

When you are in a pvp area like Cyro or IC you have this battle spirit debuff that halves your heals. In my case it would be 1500 (3000 tool tip).

You should consider lowering your crit chance on a stam sorc build. The crit surge heal ticks on any crit, be it aoe, dot or direct damage. Even with 30% crit chance it will tick every second. You can shift to penetration, dots and direct damage a bit more. Crit rush from 2H will crit on every hit for example.

And there is a heavy armor pvp set (Fury) that buffs the weapon damage of the wearer when they receive crit damage. Consequently I already encountered pvp tanks that dealt almost 0% crit damage, when I was wearing Fury.

There are a lot of possibilities in pvp, it's not like pve where it is high crit chance, medium armor, dw, bow on back bar.

Nevertheless, there are some typical pvp skills, so have a look at Streak, Poison Arrow, Negate, Acid Spray or Bombard, Snipe, Steel Tornada (yes, still a thing in pvp). Your choice of Dawn Breaker, Dark Deal, Vigor is fine. The toggle armor is a matter of taste, personally I drop it for two more active skills on my bar. Overload is only for the 3rd skill bar, but it is a bit slow in pvp, if not too slow.

Sewers are kind of that hybrid area. I build probably 70% PVE and 30% PVP when I am running in IC. Honestly, as a stam sorc, you should try to level DW/2H/S+B/Bow. You never know how the meta will shift or how you want to play. PVE and for me IC, I always go DW/Bow. You are basically describing the rotation. What you are missing is Trap, Hail, and poison injection from you bow bar. Now you may want to drop some of these in PVP land to give you a few more survival tools.

Went back and made a few changes. More AOE. see how that looks. I think stat wise hammer beats out sword due to extra penetration.(atleast for heavy builds i think it would be better) Will do testing before spending gold to turn them gold.

For pvp I don't think there's any reason to tie yourself to the subpar 2h skill line as a stam sorc. You have dark deal and crit surge to provide similar healing and without a class spamable 2h is really mediocre.

The only potential issues with dw/bow is that you will lack a gap closer, some people can get past not having a gap closer, some can't. You also lack a good CC, imo. Streak isn't terrible, but 1v1 it leaves something to be desired since you don't actually have to break it in many cases. Otherwise, dw/bow is great and will give you insane pressure and good heals through a ton of DoTs and HoTs.

The only other consideration is for snb, which is still a very strong skill line. Basically you give up some DoTs and healing for more resists, blocking, and CC/heal debuff.

Edit: Also, absolutely do not run warrior, its trash. Stam sorc will benefit much much more from thief. You'll be at 67% crit chance with thief instead, giving you more overall damage and better healing.

You are right. I thought i changed that back. I was actually thinking of crit damage boon but i think i will stick to crit chance. I do hate not having a gap closer but should have the speed to stay on top of most people. Hopefully!!

Ummm 2h has allot of burst lol, I question your experience with 2h in general if you think it is lackluster in pvp, especially fcor a stamsorc.

I leveled to 50 friday evening. I changed to S&B/Bow but not sure i like it yet. Wearing 5 heavy impen hundings with agility jewls and leki S&B. I have tried a couple different head and should setups. Currently running Selene medium pieces. Not nearly as tanky as i was hoping but still working on it. Don't have vigor unlocked yet but finally got dawn breaker last night.
