With frost staves using magicka when blocking, do passives and traits that reduce the cost of blocking appropriately reduce the magicka cost?

What specific trait gear combination?

Asking cause on PTS ppl jumped to the assumption that a frost staff was going to be a magic block pool. In saying that, blocking takes stamina but a light armor shield gives mana (morphed) so are you asking about actual blocking with a frost staff ?

The changes to frost staff passives indicate that while blocking with a frost staff you use magicka instead of stamina, and your magicka rather than stamina recovery is halted.

Going solely off what I can remember, the sturdy trait on armor reduces the cost of blocking. If I recall correctly, heavy armor also reduces block cost. There are also some armor sets I think that reduce block cost.

Additionally, one of the champion perks under the tower constellation reduces the stamina cost of blocking - I'm curious if that's getting changed to work for magicka blocking as well.

Essentially, if none of these things apply to Frost staff blocking, it's going to render them obsolete as a tanking weapon alternative to shields.

Sorry my comment is confusing.....this part of the notes:

Tri Focus:
This passive ability now taunts the enemy after you use a fully-charged Frost Heavy Attack.
This passive ability now causes your block to drain Magicka (instead of Stamina) and stops your Magicka Recovery (instead of Stamina Recovery) while blocking when you have a Frost Destruction Staff equipped.

The weapon only uses magic but as I'm look at some things.....I don't know how to respond without being confusing.

Let's say your craft or have a frost staff with the block trait.....I believe this applies but the gear passive....(I could be wrong) may not.

I was in light armor cause I wanted the light armor skill to give mana on hit
