But with crafting furniture - ZOS had to.. just had to add not just separate styles for lets say "a Table".. no no.. they had to add separate blueprints for that. So if you want to craft a furniture in style you prefer you need to be lucky to find the design/blueprint in that style, instead of having one blueprint and just use different style material...
For me a good solution is to have imperial blueprints in the game, but only people with upgrade can use it...pretty much like dlc treasure maps
This should be a good enough solution
Probably it was removed because they were having trouble getting imperial furniture to be restricted to only people with the imperial upgrade.
In my opinion they bloated the furniture craft list by ignoring motifs and making everything separate patterns anyway.

Check out this post I made on the issue.
I found that Breton, Redguard and even Orc and Dark Elf furniture styles fit the style of the Imperial homes much better than the "Imperial" style they have right now. I threw all the "free" imperial furniture (like those hideous lamp posts and pedestals) I got with my house inside my storage home since they clash so horribly with the style of the Imperial house.
