ESO Plus Horse Feeding

<If a moderator checks this. Please move it to the ESO Plus/Crown Store Section. I only realized i had it posted under general discussion after i had posted it. Thanks.>

With the new players coming to the game, there is a large gap in waiting to get your horse maxed. Yes there are crown options, but the one thing that has been overlooked is the demising utility of the ESO Plus Membership. With one DLC being turned into a chapter, i would very much like to see some more support for the Loyal ESO Plus Members, and incentive for new players to become ESO Plus members. So in preparation for the announced Warden class and the addition of two new optional character slots i would very much like to see the following, OR at least a variation of it.

***It would be nice for ESO Plus members to be able to cut their feeding times in half. Instead of having to wait 20 hours to feed your horse, you can feed it once every 10 hours.***

Please post below if you have a different idea on the subject. I am sure that other would like to see your ideas as well.

Not a game breaking advantage, I don't see why not? Bigger question is why hasn't it been done yet? B)

    P.S

I rather have that free appearance or name change token or maybe give chapters free if you sub for a year.

I agree that it isn't too over powered. If i was a new player and had the option of cutting my feeding time to 90 days instead of having to wait 180 days, i would sign up for eso plus.

The day they put Crown Riding Lessons in the Stores is the day that any hope for speeding up Riding Training went out the window.

No, we do not need any subscription exclusive QoL features. That's the issue with crafting bags now. But the actual issue is storage which touches crafting bags (should be called material bags), mounts, and housing.

    1. All horse training should follow the bank upgrades (change for anyone)
    2. If you want to offer an eso plus QoL features you could suggest all active subs gain X default speed, bag and capacity (not max)

That may be, but they put experience scrolls into the crown store, along with giving ESO plus members an advantage to experience gain. Also i think three months of ESO Plus, with a greater incentive to stay an ESO plus member, outweigh the instant payment for horse riding lessons.

This, i agree, would be great. However this would also cause a lot of outrage for those gamers that bought crown riding lessons on multiple characters. They would have wasted money on something that everyone else got for free. The only option is to provide a way that is beneficial to both parties, regardless of how much they have invested into the horse feeding.

Wish you would of put "other" in your poll..

As I think it should be a changed to something like this:

You can pay for training as many times as you want in a 20 hour time period but each time you do it doubles the cost. Then resets 20 hours after the 1st time you paid for a upgrade.

Funny i thought about that too, and was toying with the numbers on it. However, ultimately this would be more beneficial to those gamers that have been playing along time, as they would have the gold to cover it. I was trying to think of an advantage to new gamers that may not be so proficient at making gold as those members that have been playing since launch. Not to mention the point of ESO Plus is to give more experience and help you progress faster in the game. This would improve on that, for both current gamers and new gamers.

Not really.. if you think about it.. even a new play could afford to at least upgrade 2x a day.. that would double the speed to get maxed out.. and it would put another money sink for vet players and alts.

While I want this, as someone who works full time it's going to be a PITA. I would need to turn my PC on every morning before work to make use of it.

I would rather just have it count as two points for every lesson each day.

First, I would expect this idea and that if making horse upgrades account wide will continue to face the same roadblock it gets in the business department. Riding lessons in the crown store are the reason.

Second, I'd rather a benefit that continues with me. An armory and furniture closet to store my armor/weapons and extra house decos.

    That's thinking big.

Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."

Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."

1.True that a seasoned player and a new player might be able to upgrade their horse twice with a higher cost, but a new player would not be able to upgrade their horse 10 times a day with the cost doubling, while a seasoned player could do that if they wish.

    2. On the crown cost of crowns. A new player that goes out and buys the game is probably not willing to go out and spend over 1000$ on upgrading their horse all the way just to catch up with those players that already have their horses max. They probably won't invest a third of that just to be able to ride at the same speed as those already playing pvp with max horse speeds. They however might be wiling to spend an extra 45$ to max it out in 3 months instead of a half year, or even one month of eso plus just to give the boost to the xp.

    3. There are plenty of other features i would like to see in eso plus. This however would be nice edition to help not only those that already have characters, but also those that new players.

There are many things which cost money but become cheaper later (note I said cheaper, not free, as it still requires time and a small amount of gold, negligible as it may be). I preordered ESO for $60. It is now much cheaper. Do I complain that I "wasted" money? No, for it is the privilege of playing it earlier than the one who bought the game two years later that counts.

Do I complain that monster helmets are now much easier to farm as you have a guaranteed drop on vet?

Do I complain that leveling is easier than ever with one Tamriel, cp, and training gear granting xp, when years ago we had to grind alts through the painfully slow vet ranks?

Change is expected in a game, especially one like ESO. Of course there are bad changes (clown crates, price increases, devaluing of the ESO sub), but I certainly think this would help with the last negative example I listed.

    1. Morrowind is not a DLC. Saying that it is a DLC "being turned into a chapter" is disingenuous ... and the topic has been discussed already in a number of other threads.

    2. How hard is it for players to simply log their character off by the stablemaster each day? That way, when they log on the next day, they can train their horse first thing.

That said, I would be fine with it if it were added to ESO+ ... ESO+ does need more perks.

I wish there had been an option for "Other" as well. This "benefit" to ESO+ would quickly lose that benefit. After the horse is maxxed out, what are you getting? If you make new alts often, then maybe? But even then you can only have (at the release of Morrowind if you've purchased the extra slots) 14 alts. So this benefit would quickly wear out its usefulness and thus not be worth the subscription.

I wouldn't be opposed to adding something to speed up mount training, even if it was only for ESO Plus. I think it's ridiculous that they've kept a system which was obviously designed to discourage people from letting their sub run out (back when you needed to sub just to log in) for so long after it became irrelevant. They should have done away with the timer as soon as they didn't need to push subs in that way.

But I don't think reducing it to 10 hours would be a good way of doing it. I normally play ESO in the evening - between about 6pm and midnight. 10 hours later I'm at work and can't log in. I assume a lot of people are in a similar situation (because statistically most people do work and/or go to school), so this would only be useful 2 days a week, or for people who work from home/work shifts.

If there was going to be an ESO Plus perk for mount training it should simply be that you can train your horse twice a day.

Or they could do away with the time gate completely.

True it would loose its value, but there are things in ESO plus that lose value and those that gain value over time. I have had my research maxed out for almost 2 years. So that 10% experience gain on research is useless to me, even more so than the horse riding would be. Not many people research on all their alts. However horse upgrade are something that truly benefit you on all characters, and making a new character and waiting 180 days to be level with other players. On the other end of the spectrum, the crafting bag gains value with more time played, as you gradually accumulate more materials.

Also if they add new character slots with each chapter, then you would use this for 3 months of the year every year. Which is still a substantial amount.

Also true and i agree that the twice a day might be more ideal. However i tried to stick to things that are already implemented in the game in other areas. I borrowed the 10% xp gain for the eso plus benefits, and the hirelings third upgrade (providing mail every 12 hours instead of 24 hours). It might not be ideal for you to log in twice a day, but it is better to log in every day knowing that you can go to the stable and upgrade the horse first thing; than say logging in on one night at 10pm and starting your training, then logging in the next day at 5pm because you got off early, not being able to feed your horse, forgetting about it completely or feeding it a the very end right before you log off, thus pushing your 20 hour cycle even further away.

Yes there are many things that can be changed to make the game better. The reason i chose to go with this as the improvement is because it uses the formula already in the game. (ESO Plus gets reduced time, and Hirelings cut time in half providing mail twice a day, research xp gain in ESO Plus becomes useless after research is finished). As much as the whole ESO Plus could be over hauled to make it vastly better. This doesn't rely on changing the system, or eliminating it completely. It just improves on the system as it already exists within the game.

So if you subscribe, you get 60/60/60 on any mount, but you an still train daily in case you drop your membership later on.
