Can't give an opinion in terms of population. I only play on PC and all zones are crowded, alot of people online.

But I must say that in terms of user experience PC is still by far my preferred choice because of addons and mouse and keyboard.

Addons make or break the game in terms of QoL for me. Especially advanced filters and awesome guild store, will save you hours of game time (not exaggerating).

Mouse and keyboard gameplay is much faster and intuitive. Many keys for so many functions.

If you're a marketer, I'd hate to see the kind of work you produce. You need data to do analysis. You don't have any data, you're just throwing around your assumptions based on stereotypes without even considering the inherently different market for an MMO vs. the types of games that are typically played on consoles (notice that MMOs are huge on PC, but almost non-existent on consoles).

The fact is that you don't have the data needed to have any clue what the population is on either PS4 or Xbox compared to PC. Neither do I. Neither do any of us. Only ZOS has the data needed to figure that out.

There are things called industry trends.
    Aka Industry... Gulp. Sterotypes.

PC gamer is likely to be in this age range

PC gamer is likely to be this ethnicity
Console gamer is likely to be this ethnicity

One other thing to think about.

Gen X and Baby Boomers... Only very small percentage if any plays on console.
Millenials play mainly on console, a small perecentage plays PC.

Console gaming is considered cool, hype, trendy.
PC gaming is considered nerdy, outdated, laggards.

I mean, VR came out for consoles
PC gamers, its like PDA. Nobody used. Console, its not a PDA its an iPad, everyone uses
I mean, Console games all have voice chat
PC gamers... Ignore everyone and SOLO que, no I dont want to talk to you in voice, reminds me of real life
I mean Console games people actually utilize friends list and play with friends
    PC gamers... SOLO QUE KINGS

Chances of playing with a hot chick? Very slim on PC. Nothing but old folks. On consoles very good, its considered cool.
Chances of playing with losers? Very good on PC. On consoles, very bad, console players have big ambitions, big EGOs too.

When is the last time someone humped your corpse in PC AvA?
Happens all the time on console. Console player have high confidence level, high confidence can lead to EGO and dominance, which is reason why they hump corpse.

    Another thing,
    PC gaming is like TV
Console gaming is like Netflix, Hulu, etc.
PC gaming is like big box stores
Console gaming is like Amazon, e-commerce
PC gaming is like having an andriod phone
Console gaming is like having Apple products

    Which one is trending?
Which one has a lot of activity?
    Console games.

Data shows, PS4 has roughly same or more population as PC, Xbox One has roughly same or more population too... Guess what, that means Console beats PC 2 to 1.

for the price of one of my graphics cards i could buy three of your measly little consoles, and i have two of them....

never mind the cod sociology..... want to talk about performance?

Note that the few MMO on consoles is mostly because of hardware limits on previous generations, MMO tend to be memory hogs. WOW clone interface also require mouse and keyboard.

For ESO this has the benefit of few competitors, is it any other serious MMO for One?
I play pc by the way, never owned an console :)

PC version has the benefit of addon I could not play an sorcerer effective without ad don who shows timers for abilities.
Yes you have visual clues but this don't have timers and you might easy miss them in an hectic fight.

If you want to lay back on a bigger screen, friendlier community, less cheaters/exploiters, less glitches, less lag, no constant updates to your system and so on

PS4 is the one for you

I play PC and play on my big screen while on the couch using my controller so console really has nothing going for it over PC. I have the Steam Link (but hey if your PC is close enough you can just HDMI to the TV directly) and load up Steam (big picture mode) and load up ESO. I play on my big screen TV, use my wireless Xbox 360 controller and sit on the couch. When I feel like being at the PC or use mouse and keyboard I can do that too and I get to use addons! PC has more options and can play both ways.

I had just as many bugs, lag and glitches on my PS4 than on PC (I did the transfer from PC to PS4 when console version launched) so I have played both but kept going back to PC because ZoS and their infinite stupidity have a craptacular UI so I hated playing without a few select addons.

OP, pick which works best for you but PC can do everything console can and more (buy it on Steam makes it easier to play on the TV and couch if that's how you wish to play). As for populations, I see no shortage of players on PC (NA) so I think either choice will be fine in that regard. The PC vs console though, it seems everyone pro-console will make it sound like console has an advantage of bigger screen and comfort of the couch, etc... but PC can just as easily do all that as well so you have more options on PC. If you don't care about addons, go for console but my preference is the UI sucks so I need a few addons and couldn't stand playing on my PS4 when I did. To each their own.

Whichever version you choose, welcome to ESO!

Technically no one can answer this
    BUT

Recently MMoRPG has an article from the developers saying sales-wise....new purchases are spread evenly among the three with 8.5 mil total sales.

This article doesn't talk about any definition of active players.
We can safely assume all servers have at their highest peak at least 300-600k players which in One Tamriel is plenty.

I'm not sure if there is a sarcastic undertone from your comments. Ha ha. Bigger screen, sure, but I believe you can also connect the PC to your 80" HD4KUltra TV via HDMI. Less cheaters/exploiters on consoles.. sure, I can buy that, since on PC, you're able to do more mods and such. However, friendlier community on PS4.. well, I wouldn't buy that for a dollar. Ha ha. I play both and an interesting fact on pc is if you turn on console ui the pvp campaign population show up as one bar less populationwise compared to when using normal ui.

    Good question OP.

You have to keep in mind many or most PC gamers tend to be MMO players ( be that online FPS games, moba's or MMORPG's ), where as most Console gamers tend to play FPS games like CoD, Sport games and Sandbox like FIFA, GTA.

So this is a VERY interesting question and I am very curious myself
