Ring of Mara - do both have to wear it?

I'm leveling a char with someone and I'm somewhat ahead in level. I wanted for them to catch up without having to do too much stuff solo. We're both wearing Mara rings, and here lies the question - do both people have to wear the ring to get an XP bonus, or can one person remove the ring while the other one will still get the XP wearing it?

To get the exp boost, you have to be Grouped, and wearing the ring. So, I read that as you could forgo the ring and they get the boost but not you. But, test it and pay attention. Use the flying numbers to see the difference with and without, unless you have a stat logger addon.Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
