A new player is looking for help, admits to being <country>; when did it ever become OK for players to say "she must have a <country> fanny"; some think this is quite funny and extend the chat to more nauseating conversations.
Recently many similar conversations appear within the zone chat.
What is happening to this amazing community?
I am seeing this more often and sometimes unsure as to what to do - Toxic... Any guidance is appreciated! :-|

sadly zone chat has been like this since launch. I still remember a day when you could ask for help in a general chat and people would be kind enough to help. But times changed and the view of gamers has warped in to an ego stroking contest. I still go out of my way to assist people how ever possible, but honestly the reason games fail now days is not because of the developers but because of crappy communities.
On the flip side compliment or thank ZOS on doing something well and be called a "white knight" and "idiot" because you're not on venting your rage on the forums over everything. The forum is even worse, if you complain about anything you will instantly get bombarded by ESO lapdog fanboys.
It's always been there, it's just more prominent now due to larger populations.
If the quoted statement in your post offends you, and you need guidance on how to just ignore people or report them, then I am losing faith in humanity.

Saw someone making jokes about how they'd made unsolicited adult activity to someone in chat the other day, that was a reporting one. I wonder if ZOS got Interpol to pay them a visit for admitting to doing something illegal.
End of the day OP there isn't much you can do but block those who are being jerks like Nestor said. The main thing is to never give raise or comment to them as it only makes them enjoy it, generally blanking/ignoring people and going about what you were doing is the best way to ruin their fun.
Better yet if you're the cruel type don't block them and then blank them, because they get even more mad if they find they can whisper you (no notification they're ignored) but you're not paying them any attention as if you can't see them. That might just be my cruel side though. On the flip side compliment or thank ZOS on doing something well and be called a "white knight" and "idiot" because you're not on venting your rage on the forums over everything. The forum is even worse, if you complain about anything you will instantly get bombarded by ESO lapdog fanboys.

It also used to be more confined to lowbie zones. One Tamriel has allowed it to ooze out into the rest of the game.If the quoted statement in your post offends you, and you need guidance on how to just ignore people or report them, then I am losing faith in humanity.
Our society has now reached a point where it is a greater crime to be bothered by people treating others like garbage than it is to treat others like garbage. That's what's killing my faith in humanity.

Or disagree with the majority and agree with the minority, and you'll get some angry dorito crunching nerds at your forum door.
