New RX 480 card

Hi there i have just installed this new card but im having problems. As soon as i go to medium graphics the grass and other surroundings start flickering really badly. I have an amd FX 8350 chip with 16 gig ram. I was using a R9 280 x and could go up to high graphics no problem, so i dont know whats going on??? I also used DDU to clean old drivers then put in new ones. Any suggestions please??

my system was about 5 years old so just upgraded everything with a new purchase. how old is your system maybe the money is better spent on a new one

3yrs old so not old enough to replace whole system. Id rather just send card back and put old one in again

Is medium higher or lower than where is was?

Just a guess because I don't know what happened if a PC draws more power than the PS can supply but some are not aware the PS may need to be more powerful when upgrading the GPU, especially when replacing off the shelf GPUs

Much lower. I could play on medium or higher with older card but only had to drop when in Trials. I have 700w psu

So i had enough and packed that new card away and printed the return label to send back. While i done that i installed my old reliable card back in and fired up eso. O O now i had the same problems and thought wtf is going on here. Then i used my not so clever head and figured out i bet those latest drivers from amd are to blame. So off i went again, take out card put in new card download OLD drivers and boom it worked. Now ESO is avalable in Ultra for me

I know posts like this are not of help to you, just wanted to say I recently changed from Nvida to a 480, (i7 system) and am very very impressed with the card, have almost everything maxed out (1440p), sure I don't get 60FPS everywhere, but I do get lag free game play and it looks stunning.

I am considering getting this very card, can you link me to the old drivers that you have downloaded that got ESO to work? I may not get the card before they fix the error in the new updates but would like to have the link as a back up in case!

I've run it on all the recent standard release drivers with zero problems,

I've also ran it on the optional ones except for the latest which came out a few days ago, and after reading this thread decided not to upgrade.

I'm running 17.1.2 but haven't upgraded to 17.2.1

I got one of the original cards with one fan, while I love the cards performance, the fan does get very loud. At some point I shall change the cover/fan to an aftermarket better cooling solution.

Im on phone so i dont know how to link sorry, but the driver im using is16.12.2 and the newest driver is version 17.2.1 as an optional update but thats the one which gave me problems. I hope thats of some use to you??

RX 480 8GB checking in. Can also vouch for 16.12.2 being the latest stable version driver. Running full ultra, no problems. If you're using the Crimson suite it should only update to the latest stable version. Optional updates are usually more of a beta test :P
