Painting unselectable after placing in house. VERY upset, because it's huge and I don't like it

It's a GIANT painting I found in a chest. (Seems to be a high elf painting.) Put it on the wall. Now I can't take it off again. 
It's now unselectable and seems to be there permanently.
I hate it. It's cramping my style, bro.
What can I do?

✭Yes, it happens and it's annoying. But it's easy to take it back. Just go to "browse" and instead of "place" choose "retrieve". Then select the item on the list and from there you can choose to modify or completely remove it from your house.4 -
AyeshaBelladonna✭✭✭✭✭Also, i found that things i have to Retrieve because i can'T select them after placement are usually getting stuck like that because I'm mounting them slightly IN the wall instead of on it. Try turning off the Surface Bind when placing and you may have more luck avoiding this issue!
