Confused about socialization etiquette of PUGs

So I got into a PUG for vWGT and we reached until the planar inhibitor. 2 group members left the group and there were only 2 of us left. From my experience, 9 times out of 10 using group finder, it will take a minimum of 1/2 hour to find a single group member. Not wanting to wait that long, I left the group as well. Having used to such an occurrence of a group disbanding halfway through the dungeon(it happens very often), I thought nothing of it. The remaining member however appears quite agitated, informing me of how I wasted his time and proceeds to make extensive use of the ZOS censorship feature. I apologized and told him that was quite normal but he still seems quite upset. Did I do wrong? What would you have done in such a situation?

I would have waited a minute or two at least, since you had made it that far it was at least worth a try. But I do agree that groups often do just float belly up and get disbanded completely when one or two people leave

Did you say like "aw man, I've got no time to wait tonight. Sorry but I gotta run."

Or did you just abruptly leave?

Maybe when you lingered after the other two left, he got his hopes up that you had time to stay.

PUGs will be PUGs. Im not exactly a vet of this game, but from what I've seen pretty much anything and everything goes. I, and many others, try to be respectful and have fun keeping in mind that it is a PUG after. If you dont have time to stay then just apologize and peace out. It happens. If someone decides to go to that level after all, screw them.

    IMO, PUG etiquette goes:

    1. Be friendly and respectful. Low level and high level players use group finder, get used to it. If you dont like it go find some elitist 561 groups.
    2. Block the jerks.

I would have waited for a bit if I had time.
Sometimes I don't have time to reform a group before continuing. In that just let the other people know I have to go.
A little bit of communication helps things go smoothly.

I say discuss it with the other guy, do we try for replacements or leave.

Grinding just make you go in circles.

You are a horrible person and deserve to be punished.

...not srs. Honestly though I would have stuck around if the remaining group memeber was 600cp and help find reaplcement. I hate quitting half way through. But I dislike trying to struggle along wipe after wipe with 200cp of less players on deungeons like vrom as well.

Don't use the group finder unless you are ready to deal with the extreme hostility that comes with it. 90% of PUG's include.
    - Elitist ***
    - Newbies
    - Hostility
    - Frustration
    - Disappointment
    - Censorship

It probably saved you the agony of typing for the three hundredth time to 'shut the portals or grab the pinion' as everyone says they did but you still melted under 50 adds...

You do what you gotta do, nothing wrong with that. I personally would have waited.
But I was raised on pugging in WoW before there was a grouping tool there; traveling from zone to zone looking for group members. So I'm probably more patient than most.

    This.

People are always leaving PUGs. The point is how they do that, do they just leave w/o a single word, or they're type 'sorry guys' at least.
That player's thoughts were: 'Well, two players leave. Screw them! Seems like this guy is not a leaver and we could try again.' And then you leave silently. 'What? What's wrong with you, man? I thought we gonna try it one more time. WTF? Why you didn't leave right after those losers then?'
One of the two of us definitely has gone mad. It only remains to define whether this one is the whole world or just me.

Depends on the person remaining (healing leaves you a lot of time to pick what groupmates you like the most :p), how long we've already been at it, which roles we need (tank left? RIP dreams unless we get someone instantly), and whether or not I could get right on to doing something else if I left.

Did you do anything wrong? Goodness no, for so many reasons:
2 Other people already left, you had half a party. Not workable under most conditions, especially for average players in a dlc dungeon
Depending on what roles were needed you could be waiting there as long as it would take to run the whole thing over
When you bring people in through LFG, they might not be pleased that you're already halfway through the dungeon. Especially if it's a pledge.
If you quote someone, and intend for them to see what you have said, be sure to Mention them with @[insert name].

I would've said something maybe even offer to stay grouped and just go do some farming while he waits or just to requeue again maybe on my tank to make the wait shorter.

vWGT is not pug friendly at all and if two people leave at inhibitor on a pledge chances are small of finding two replacements to complete it. Since the new players want to complete the pledge to and not only the last two bosses.

I've never had people leave mid dungeon for no reason, that's a bit odd. DPS slots fill pretty immediately on Xbox EU anyway, and at least on Vet people don't mark as heal / tank if they are not.

I've had it both ways, you wait and a 561 joins and carries you through. Or had it in Trials where you wait an age and hit that point - if I leave now I've wasted all prior time haha.

Bottom line for me, I don't tend to PUG vet's unless i'm with 1 or 2 mates. And def not DLC.

Say hi at the start of the dungeon. Let the tank lead unless it's perfectly clear that everyone can go trough the content and survive without having the tank or healer constantly guarding them. Say in advance if you've not done the dungeon so other people can explain the mechanics for you. Say goodbye when you leave. But these not obscure social rules as much as a way to simply not be a jerk.

But players are humans and the one you left behind may have tried doing vWGT for many hours with several pug groups yet never finished it and as such had a lot of frustration that happen to spill over on you because you left before anyone else joined, meaning he would get kicked out of the dungeon and start all over again.

So maybe you didn't do anything wrong but became a victim of a victim of Zenimax's design decisions.

There is no etiquette. Your group whiped, two quit, dungeon over. I quit too if DPS takes my orb when it's orange, grey screener isn't closing portals and DPS won't take blue orb. That's my biggest peeve, that last one. Vet should know the mechanics by now, down to a science.

it's vWGT. queueing for replacement means that you are going to drag unsuspecting players queueing for random into one of the hardest dungeon, with half of a group that was failing it.

if i dont have time i'd say i give up and leave. if i have time, i'd offer to requeue the whole group for a different vet dungeon if they are not specifically looking to do WGT (i usually tank so the queue will go faster than if they disband and queue alone)

I like the Plannar fight. It requires people to be perceptive of others.

It's a new concept for most.
