BOTS are ruining this game for everyone

Hi guys,

Although i have created several incident reports to support team, and the support ticket says that they will not discuss the outcome of the investigation with me, i have to make some clarifications :

- there were links to youtube videos in the tickets that have not been seen by anyone so far
- the bots are still in the same area doing their stuff
- having bots in this game ruins the economy and makes the game unplayable for some players

Please, please do something about these bots . It is not that hard to make a algorithm that searches for paths traveled by characters with a surgical precision !
Also DO REPLY to tickets submitted by players!

This is common in every MMO out there. The only one I have seen which has taken a serious stance on botting is EVE Online and that's because of the nature of the sandbox and economy there.

Very few games companies will talk about individual cases or reported players, this isn't uncommon. As for no one seeing the videos (maybe even the tickets) this doesn't shock me. ZOS to my knowledge has no in house security/GM team so work on tickets of this type is generally slow or ignored.

I have no confirmation of the above but as a 3 year player that's how I feel about their handling of botting in the game.

Sorry - did you say 'reply to tickets'!!! But that involves work and thought - you surely don't think that is going to happen do you????

They won't reply to a bot report ticket, there is nothing they have to say. Either than investigate and ban, or they investigate and don't, it's not for the reporting player to know.

I'm not a bot, I just sit in a spot and wait for people to pull all the mobs then I throw caltrops and get free loot. :^)

wait theres bots for this game.. Hmm may have to get one. the leveling in this game is so horrid it makes me not want to play. Now I remember why I stopped playing this game all together.

What I don't get is, WHY don't they do something about gold sellers?? I mean, when you come across a basic entry level item and addons tell you it recently sold for several thousand gold, clearly you KNOW this was a gold seller transaction, something ZOS could easily track and deal with by deleting and banning both seller and purchaser... but they don't.

They do. I know some people who have been caught selling and some who have been flagged and informed of investigation for large gold transfers.

ZOS cleaned house on bots and gold sellers at launch....The bots i reported seem to have been removed. Keep reporting them ...hope is not lost.

tricky thing is a lot of players aren't bots but use botting programs while theyre nearby. so they ll automate their player running around collecting nodes and ancestor silk or whatever- then when someone like an admin messages them- they ll run back to their computer. I've seen a ton of bots running around alik'r farming leather off the harpies- and they won't respond at first- but after 10 minutes they ll answer. so its difficult i think to catch these people out of Zos- or they turn a blind eye to it...

androids i guess u could call them.

sure sign of botting though- a low level toon like level 20 - that has been created just for farming- running a perfect route - often with other bots, farming a resource- using only skills and no light attacks- so when they pass a source- thats been taken - they aren't swinging in the air wildly.

There was video proof in an unlisted youtube video. The only ones with the link were ZOS . They did not ever bother to check.
This is sad as i am paying for this game and i would like to enjoy it .

It breaks the immersion of the game with dragons, talking cats and magic. I'd rather they keep my immersion by removing bots than having to acknowledge Pussyslayer of Daggerfall stealing my kills and hurling racial epithets through /w.

Just a couple of observations.

1. They are obviously overworked on the ToS Enforcement Team and it takes time for them to get to reports, so how long ago did this video get mentioned to them?

2. You are assuming that they need to look at the video during their investigation.

Not saying that they should not be banning bots, and that they do seem less than enthusiastic about doing it, but at some point the reality of how ZOS does this has to set expectations. Don't expect them to jump on these reports in a timely manner, and never on a weekend.

I think it was an joke.

The other option is that he need the bot to handle the mudcrabs combat mechanisms, admiring to use bots on the official forum is not very smart
