Should blank "player written" books be added to resolve guild menu text-field word limits?

There's not enough room in the 'about us' section of the guild menu & the required information is spilling into the message of the day, which in-turn effects the overall functionality of all guilds by creating a very narrow limitation to work with. Almost every message of the day has become a message of the week, or month, or just a permanent message. Full of information that really should be in the 'about us' section... Or elsewhere?

An ideal solution would be to add blank book furnishings that players can write in, name & send/sell to others. Guilds would be able to put all of their primary information in the book & trade it with other players (who can put it on their bookshelf inside their house to read anytime). Character limits 'should' increase with the size & quality of the book e.g. Parchment, Blank Paper, Scroll, Book, Tome (from normal to legendary, a suitable improvement/deconstruction skill could be enchanting). A player created book would have a unique hidden identification number & a visible edition system could be used when guilds need to update their information (e.g. out-of-date edition).

Then there's the crown store... (sorry, I had to mention it) B)

Not a fan personally, seems like a lot of effort and fluff with item spam/bloat just to get a simple MOTD/About Us out there.

I would love to have editable books in the game. But mainly for other reasons like being able to have a guest book in your house or simply being able to write books and messages to other people in a permanent in-game way. Ultima Online allowed this (probably still does but I've not played it for years) and players did a lot of cool things with it.

It could also help with this problem but I don't think it's the only, or even the best, solution. Based on the ones I've seen the problem with a lot of About Us and Message of the Day sections isn't that character limit but the writers tendency to waffle.

How many times have you seen a message like "Hey guildies! I just wanted to let you all know about the exciting events we have coming up soon. I hope you'll be able to join us, please send a message to [officer] if you can/can't come, it'd be really great to see you. Don't forget that on Monday we have XYZ, Tuesday is our weekly ABC..."

That's nice but it's too long even without the character limit and makes the information hard to find. A message of the day should be treated like a poster:

    Awesome guild events this week!
    Monday: XYZ
    Tuesday : ABC
    Wednesday: etc.
    Thursday:
    Friday:
    Saturday:
    Sunday:
Message [Officer] if you want to sign up!

But maybe this is just me sitting here with my editor hat on. Part of my job is to create promotional material and edit stuff other people send to me (which usually means cutting a 3 page essay down to the 200 word announcement I originally asked for) so maybe what seems obvious to me isn't obvious to other people.

I'm an experienced programmer & can make a mod like that in an afternoon

It would greatly expand the functions of the message of the day, providing enough character space to 'actually' be able to co-ordinate multiple events across different time-zones over a 24 hour period 'without' sounding like you have funky grammar or like a machine that's just printed me some kind of receipt. ZOS could increase the word cap, but books sell! I'm sure there's some valuable undiscovered authors out there yet to make their debut.

A lot of guilds expand to external sources (web sites) to hold the bulk of the 'true' about us section! I don't like having to alt+tab, a book would be awesome! It has so many different applications.

I'd also like to see one of these player crafted "guild book's" assigned to every guild trader. Customers can see what the guild's about and have an easy way to find an invitation if they want one.

I have to stop & log out now before I spill any more creativity. Bye everybody!
