Craft bags

Please no flaming. This is aimed at ZOS... There is no other way I can get this question answered.

Is there any chance the craft bags will be available to everyone, not just ESO+ subs, in the future? I'm a day one sub (from beta, subbed when the game was a subscription model and then ESO+ from the start). After the recent announcements about future releases, the only reason I have for ESO+ now is the craft bag:
  • I don't want crowns, I have no use for them especially now that we can't buy 25% of the yearly content with them.
  • I don't use costumes and pets are pointless (but I get why people have 'em).
  • I have maxed level characters so have no need for the increases XP earn.
  • I have no need for the 10% gold gain.

As for the ESO+ content I've received and MY opinions on them:
  • Craglorn: Best DLC/Chapter/Expansion to date. Still play it and love it... lots of solo, group and end game content
  • Orsinium: Nice update, but a fraction of Craglorn. Never go there now unless I have to. Don't enjoy Maelstrom so wouldn't miss it
  • Imperial CIty: Great update, but since dueling it's dead.
  • Hews Bane: Enjoyed it for a couple of days. Don't enjoy the daily quests, too small an area. Maw of Lorkhaj is good though.
  • Gold Coast: Worst update for me. Wouldn't miss it at all if I lost access to it.
  • Shadows of the Hist: Two new dungeons so what's not to like.

If I were to cancel my ESO+, I'd lose access to all of the above. Going through list, I only use Craglorn, Shadows of the Hist and Hews Bane for the trial. So that's less than half of the content released. With the amount of content available to ESO+ subs being reduced, I've had to reconsider my subscription.

So, my only other use for ESO+ was to support the game, which I can no longer do due to said announcements. Please note, this isn't a whining post, it's a genuine question.

As a master crafter, I have a lot of materials. The craft bag has enabled this. I'm so used to it now, I really struggle with the game without it now. I know it sounds stupid, but with so many sets in the game, low relative bank space, huge amounts of styles, traits and materials (now lower level mats are required for master writs) coupled with terrible RNG, I need large amounts of storage. I had a few weeks last year when I had the usual issues renewing my ESO+ and had to juggle my bank space as the craft bag was disabled. It was not fun and I found myself spending an inordinate amount of time in the bank.

I am more than happy to pay for the dlc's (sorry, dlc, chapter, expansion, etc) if i dont have to sub to eso+. Spending £108/year for a craft bag is silly and I can't justify it but I can't play the game without it.

So, back to my question, ZOS. Is there a chance craft bags will be available to everyone? I've presented my reasons, I think they're valid.

Not flaming, but I really do think you've answered your own question.

They want people to subscribe, because it gets them a steady source of income. A lot of people subscribe only for the Crafting Bag. Why would they make it available to everyone when it's the perfect way to keep people on the hook for ESO+?

(Also, the ESO+ content is not being reduced, it's just not increasing, but that's an argument for another thread :p )
    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

@BlackSparrow Yeah, I figured that much but it's always worth asking. I can't play the game without a craft bag. Crafting in MMOs is a big part of the fun for me... and the craft bag enables that.

ESO+ plus content originally was 4 major updates a year... they said one update every 3 months. And ESO+ would give you access to all of it. Now it's 3 updates available to ESO+, so that's a 25% reduction. Let's not get into the semantics of it all. The fact is, Zeni led us to believe ESO+ would have all future content. They never once mentioned a different kind of content. I'm not going into whether this is right or wrong, but the fact is, they've reduced the content available to ESO+ subs by 25% based on what info they originally gave us.

One other thing... I genuinely love this game... This post isn't intended to bemoan Zenimax and it's newly found lust for $. You'e a corporation, I get it. I'm an adult. It was only a matter of time. I'm just after some info that will help me make some decisions in the future.

I let my + expire. Log in check hireling mail. Inventory full......re-sub right away. I'll keep subbing to support the game I love to play.

Ok so from your perspective the value of ESO+ going forward is now at a point where you wont get what you want out of it enough to justify the cost?

if that is true, dropping your sub is the smart move.

maybe after doing so and seeing how the game plays without it, you will change you mind, but maybe not.

maybe after you drop they will revise the sub deal and you will re-evaluate, but maybe not.

Either way, the decision of sub vs non-sub is one each player gets to make every month, every quarter or every 6 months depending on which they choose.

    ASIDE

The strange and counter-to-logic to me claim i have seen some say "i have subbed all this while but now that i wont be getting all future dlc i feel ripped off for my past sub".

    That is to me nuts.

The monthly sub i paid for in December 2016 earned me access to eso sub benefits including access to all dlc content that existed at that time. It did not earn me access to any future dlc. So the fact that a non-eso+ "chapter" is being added, doesn't make my december 2016 sub somehow retroactively not worth as much.

Yea, i can't imagine playing eso without my crafting bag anymore.
It's the best QoL update released so far IMO of course.

Craglorn is not DLC. It is just an additional zone added to the game post launch. You never lose access to it.

I can't blame ESO for charging as much as they can for crafting bags. Sly move. With the new reduced DLC expectations, the bags will be the deciding factor for many to continue the sub.

Selling craft bags is an ace up ZOS's sleeve that will generate a ton of revenue almost immediately if made available.

I think the hand they hold now is good enough to keep that ace in reserve until needed. They will need a replacement perk or bonus for the subs if they do offer it for sale to everyone.

Yep! It happened to me exactly the same way some weeks ago, let the sub expire, and the hirelings made a point of reminding me why i sub in the first place ...

It was then that i discovered that hirelings are spies... they send us mats ofc but in reality they are ZOS double agents >:)

Anyway, i understand the OP request and has my sympathy , but this sly move, was probably the best card ZOS played until now... and i dont believe they will let it go lightly ...

As one who let my sub expire due to the problems plaguing ESO+ on XB, I find the inventory management has gotten worse with each update and the addition of new items. Now, I never had the crafting bag, so I don't know what I'm missing, but I'm seriously considering resubbing once Homestead launches, even with the potential headaches. Main reason - furniture items count as regular inventory items. Ugh...plus the new furniture crafting mats. Plus everything that will be added in future.

I agree that if they ever made the crafting bag available to everyone, they'd have to introduce some perk to replace it. I had made a suggestion when the crafting bag was first announced that they offer limited crafting bags in the Crown Store. These would be one for each craft, so you've have to purchase 6 of them, with perhaps a 7th one for trait/style mats. These bags would each take up a bank slot, would be manual storage (so that you have to manually put in/take out the mats, though they would be available at crafting stations), and would only hold a limited number of items. And, they'd sell for 2-3k each. So limited in functionality and space versus the crafting bag.

Regardless of whether they ever make a crafting bag available to the masses, I do think they need to address inventory in general - more bank slots to start and storage in houses.

ZoS orchestrated a simple, interweaving plan. All the facts @arun_rajputb16_ESO talks about are directly related, and there are others. And future changes. No extra storage with your house...

It's not sly. It's as transparent as glass. I don't understand why people don't see it.

Update for anyone that care: Sadly but having thought about it for a few days, I cancelled my ESO+ and have quit the game. I'll really miss the game, I've loved it for 2 1/2 years. Thanks to the early ZOS people and the community, you all made it a fun and enjoyable time

I agree with the perk maybe unlimited space for everything instead. You would never have to use gold to buy space again.
