How do you type in other language zone chat?

"/z" or "/zone" allows you to type in /zone: chat.

However, what do I enter in the chat box to type in these channels "/zone - French:" "/zone - Japanese" and "/zone - German:"

    /dezone
    /frzone
    /enzone
    /jpzone

(last one is an assumption, we don't have japanese zone chat on PC/EU server).

You can also click on the name of the chat channel next to where your text appears and it will bring up a list of all available channels for you to choose from.

Spanish is not an official translation/localization of ESO therefore there is no spanish zone.

I don't want to hijack this thread but I'll take the opportunity to emphasize that there is an english zone chat, which is different from zone chat. I want to bring that to the attention of people who regularly complain whenever someone uses zone chat in a language other than english. All languages are allowed in /zone, if you want english only, switch to /enzone.

Just use the /zone for your own language. No-one can force you to use English in /zone.

Only problem with that is I think I've never seen anyone use English zone chat... ever! :)

Me neither... but blame it on the players... ! I've often seen many really unpleasant, arrogant, even racist comments in /zone whenever people type in there in a foreign language or in cyrillic or some sort of other alphabet that I don't decipher myself. It's great to have basic english as common tool of communication but that doesn't mean that everybody has to use it and everyone is free to use /zone in whatever language. For instance, a turkish guild playing in turkish with and for turkish players but recruiting in english would make no sense at all.

On EU servers I hardly ever see anyone using any of the dedicated language channels, everyone just uses Zone chat. Occasionally someone does complain about it, but always by claiming that /zone is english-only, and the existence of /enzone means they get shot down fairly quickly.

(The weird part for me is that about half the time they're not even native english speakers themselves. It's like they felt obligated to learn english to communicate online and they hate the idea that other people are getting away with not knowing it.)

I think that Russian cyrilic language should be forbidden from general chat. This weird alphabet not only takes enormous space in chat (probably 2-3x more than latin) it's also not understandable for the majority. Pls. make a separate chat for this and forbid players to spam it on general.

It disturbs you because you can't read it and letters are bigger... ? smh...
    Just ignore it.

If ZOS starts making separate channel for one non-official language then they will have to do it for *every* language and we would end up with 50+ different channels (which noone will use because frankly, even with 4 channels only as it is now, everybody uses /zone anyway).

Does anyone know why this happens? Regular written Russian doesn't leave that much space between letters.

I assume it's something to do with the font they use for cyrillic characters. It must have slightly bigger characters than the latin alphabet.

Cyrillic characters have much more subtle differencies than our western sledgehammer language. Maybe text this small actually is difficult to read if forced onto cyrillic letters, I can't judge it albeit being able to identify the letters, I don't speak the language.

Oh, and that guy complaining about not understanding russian and not wanting to read it: Zone chat on EU PC has English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish, Serbian, Kroatian, Swedish, Norwegian, Polish, Czech and a couple more languages that I don't recognize readily. Many of these use characters that do not fit into the standard lettering.

Did you pick one by random to complain about or is there something else you want to express?

There is a plugin for better cyrillic Fonts. And there is an add-on hiding cyrillic text.

Russian players use special fix for Cyrillic font in ESO. Not fixed Russian text is NOT normal, even for Russians.
You can use this fix too ("RuESO Chat" by TERAB1T) or use special mode to hide all Cyrillic letters in chat (do not remember exact name of this mode).

Russian is officially supported by ZOS, but since release they have not fixed the issue with thy Cyrillic letters. We had 5 DLC releases and one over hyped homestead release but not one Cyrillic alphabet fix, which is done already by an addon...

I would feel bad if my native language was supported by ZOS but the chat had this issue for a very long time.

Also I cannot understand French Spanish (in short anything that is not Turkish, German or English) should they not be able to write in zone chat because I cannot understand them? Plus sometimes I try to ask the guy what he wrote and they reply with English translation. Cheers to learning language in online games

I had a great experience once in another game where I was doing an event that required everyone on the map to work together in 3 coordinated groups. The event started, 3 people were designated group leaders and we all got going. It soon became apparent one of them spoke English, one French and one German and everyone on the map understood at least 1 of those, but not necessarily the one their group leader spoke. But it was too late to move everyone around.

So we did the best we could - a few people knew two or all 3 languages so they'd translate and fairly quickly everyone picked up a few key words. It ended up being one of the most fun experiences I've had in a game, even if it was extremely chaotic.
