Extra large - 2500

See this is where i think folks are never going to be happy with storage.
i mean... you want one crafted item - an XL crate - to give you the storage of 2500 piece when in the game now the "max storage" of 12 fully maxed out character with maxed out bank is around 2600. That one crate is what... the storage of five guild banks?
thats kind of like saying "in the next update let us craft a single potion that buffs all stats for as long as we want and can be used by every character at once."
No game designer would put into the game a single crafted piece which functionally removes the needs for what - a half-dozen or more other purchase functions (horse capacity inc by gold or crown, bank cap inc by gold or crown, character cap inc by gold or crown.)
With a small house having an easy easy easy opening to just put say 20 crates (10% of the capacity of the house) if they have even a "medium" crate hold 10 items thats a massive increase in storage for what would be (guessing) a rather minimal outlay in resources. imagine if they went at it with gusto.
The number of furnishings per house and the resources needed for comparable items we can see now do not support storage levels per container anywhere close to what you suggest being compatible with the rest of the storage capabilities in the game. It would stop all the others from happening in lieu of this far superior option.

This will never happen. Zos isn't going to add that much storage and certainly not craftable.
If/when Zos adds storage it will have the same pricing scheme as the existing storage options.0
