Hey @ZOS_GinaBruno

We're about due for another crown store sale, yeah? :D If you could kindly pass that request along...much appreciated.

So much to buy, so little crowns and I cannot bring myself to pay full price for the amount I intend to purchase. (Been saving for this since Xmas!)

I buy crowns when I want something from the store, doesn't matter if there is a sale or not.
Ofc I enjoy some cheap crowns, but begging on the forums for a sale is just silly.
There are 3 of these threads being made every week, thats just sad.

Why would they put a sale on now when people are buying them at full price to get houses/furnishings?

Also can you imagine the backlash if they do this a week after everyone purchased them at full price?

They're best business choice is to watch for the point when sales fall off and people stop buying to get things now on release, then do a sale and capture all those who will buy during a sale.

Well the crown prices considering full crown cost is ridiculous, but that horse is beaten to death anyways.

I just hope for a sale before the wild hunt crates are introduced. Not gonna bother with housing anyways.

So, any time is the right time for a sale from my point of view o:)

At least twice now that I can recall, they have had a crown sale shortly after releasing a DLC, and the forums immediately filled with rage and hate threads from people who had just purchased crown packs at full price for the DLC. Maybe they'll do it again, maybe not. Since they don't announce in advance I think the best you can do is not plan your purchases around a sale you don't know is coming, and then pick up an extra pack when they do go on sale and try not to blow them all in one place.

I'm sure that would make a good excuse to not do it this time, but it is because housing mods (the truly great ones) have always been among some of the most downloaded and enjoyed mods from other elder scrolls games. Zyngamax expects you to fork out 80$ to 120$ for something that isn't even half as good as what you get free in mods in other elder scrolls games let alone that it lacks any of the basic functionality it would have had in those other games for even the officially made homes.

There will be no sale until it's closer to morrowind I suspect. Not that it would be a bad time for a sale itself, it would lighten up the expansion purchase a little actually for people having a crown sale near it's release. The difference between now and then is the timing, now a sale would net less money since plenty of people are expected to buy the houses regardless of their prices. That is why they released the rng boxes when they did, to chew up some of the crowns bought in large amounts during the last sale a few months ago. That indicated there would not be a sale for at least weeks after housing was released. The goal was to burn up crowns so many who wanted the housing badly enough after months of hype would pay full price for them, or were expected to.

When people will already be spending on an expansion just a few short months away, a sale would be incentive to spend more at a time when they are getting hyped for playing the game extensively again. People who passed up on housing, and didn't care about the prices both may be more inclined to spend on a sale during that time. And those that are holding out now, will do the same if they plan to stick around for a while because of the new class or content and knowing there will also be houses in morrowind to justify waiting for a sale. Right now a sale is bad for business basically, but around morrowind's release it might be good for business. You have to think the way a suit would think about it to better understand it. It's all about the Benjamins

    FYI
For each sale and the amount purchased, if impacts the crown store prices so the sale isn't going to help....it hurts

id rather they never do anymore sales ....also what's the point if you are almost forced to sub for QoL and base game updates locked behind the sub paywall

    So much THIS ^^^

Also, the more threads on the official forums begging for cheap crowns, the more the officiators know there is a demand for crowns so less incentive to offer a sale. If you really want them then the best thing to do may be not to ask. Just a thought.

I am not marketing and sales person, but my guess is that Bethesda organizes Crown Sales at times when people are not buying Crowns. People are probably buying them, now.

I do pick up a crown package here and there on top of my 2x subs, but for such a large order, I just cannot see the sense in not waiting for a crown sale. After update 12, they did drop a comment on one of their mediums (forget which, prob the twitch video) that crowns would go on sale again in January which has come and gone. Obviously they changed their minds which they can and do.

I've already missed out on the little black cat! >.<

To be fair I only came to this thread thinking the Z meant something constructive had been added to the conversation by a dev or something :|

That being said, if we had a crown sale I will definitely stock up to buy a mansion. But at full price I won't even consider it. I've been wanting to buy crowns on sale for so long now :(

I'd love to see a Crown Sale, because my birthday is next week and I need that black cat they're releasing just in time for my birthday.

    ;)

Plus, there are two costumes I want as well, and the wolf mount. Argh. I have a grand total of 50 crowns right now. :(

We need a crown sale because there is a lot of things to buy now and a lot of new or returning players. The actual price is really high and it will be very cool and good for you too doing this. A lot of people are waiting for it now.

I would second, third and fourth this.

Because ZO masssively overprices some crown store items to match the best possible price you can get crowns for when on sale, I can only afford to buy crowns when they are and I regard ESO Plus as a really bad deal. I've made peace with that now, keep an ear to ground for crown sales and live from one to the next.

But I think it might be hurting the business. Badly.

Glow kitty. That looked so cool. Would have been utterly perfect for my Khajiit sorcerer. I wanted it. Would have spent up to $25 on one. That's semi-reasonable. $40? Bugger that. I wasn't aware of ESO's crown store strategy back then and wasn't prepared for it. So I had to let it pass. Now that Khajiit sorcerer is just a mule alt and probably always will be. And I stopped playing for aaaages.

The elk I saw coming, though sadly underestimated the price. Most of the other 'regular' mounts had been 1800 crowns and their better versions 2500. So I bought crowns last time they were on sale and thought I'd have heaps to buy the elk and the banker, which I desperately need so I can avoid chronically lagged towns. But at 4500 crowns I ended up slightly short.

Am I going to pay full price for any crowns when ZO have this strategy? No. I can't. So I grabbed the limited time item and have stopped playing until the next sale. Just doing the horse feeding grind and a little crafting. Though I've stopped for a while with Homestead's release. Towns take way too long to load at the moment with everyone checking it out.

In the meantime I've returned to another MMO which has its own problems (definitely) but which I'm kind of enjoying and may stick with. If I do, I'm obviously less likely to spend money on ESO.

So right now you can buy Gold Edition for ~25$, dlc pack for old players cost 35$ in crowns, any chance for the discount on that or crown sale (pretty much it would end up same way for me) in near future because i don't understand why after 2 years i have to pay more for something that new players can get cheaper.

Being currently as poor as a church mouse, I bought crowns at the last sale in anticipation of the next DLC...
Only the next "DLC" isn't one - it's an "Expansion"... and no amount of Crowns can be used to buy it... Only more good old hard cash... which, if I am not mistaken, is the already captured currency that is locked up in Crowns...

So W T F? Honestly, I think it's really disingenuous of ZOS to do that to its customers. And... if the idea was to generate incremental revenue, and thus, exclude the "free" crowns that ESO Plus Subscribers get, you could have required some kind of internal purchase to achieve the same effect. However, I kinda think if you're paying close to US$200/year to play, and while understanding the server support/maintenance costs, providing your steady income stream, i.e. subscribers, with the new content as a part of their subscription, seems to make better business sense to me - esp having heard from friends how pissed off they are, thinking that ESO Plus would have included Morrowind... But hey! Having run a marketing org before, I know how mess up a lot of marketing people can be...

Strange... There's an ESO Store/Account System maintenance tomorrow, on a Tuesday, perhaps a Crown Sale coming for Valentine's Day?!? Usually Store/Account maintenance is done on Thursdays if I remember correctly.

It may just be a new quest momento or something, hopefully with double xp again. Or new valentine items in the store, giftable if they are smart about it or a mara sale. People are suckers around holidays lol

The black cat pet goes up for sale starting tomorrow. The crown store maintenance might be just to put that up for sale.
Perhaps they'll put a couple other things on sale, though, too.

    I HOPE there's a crown sale.

And you're omniscient are you, to know what they know?

I wasn't one of those ragers but I only became aware of those sales last year after the glow kitty went up for 4000 crowns and people started saying, 'The price is reasonable if you buy crowns when they're massively discounted'. And I'm glad they did because that prepared me (somewhat) for the elk.

Check through the threads in this sub-forum, eg. this one. Knowledge about these sales and ZO's strategy of pricing items so they're only affordable if you buy crowns when massively discounted is not universally known.
