Why don't you just buy furniture from the Housing Vendor?
Are you trolling me? Have you seen the selection?

Yes, i have seen them, bought them, your point being?

If you like PVP, check out "for honour" coming out Tuesday, you'll be amazed at how badly ESO is compared to that.

While we are glad to see how everyone feels about the new Homestead, we must ask that all posts be kept within the Community Rules as we have recently had to remove a handful of posts.

    Thank you for your understanding!

I think the biggest problem here is that you were expecting a different game mode than what the devs had in mind all along.

You are right in this aspect. But then again, I don't think players should care what the devs had in mind. The devs should care what players have in mind, and ideally, they should care before they start developing.

I understand making your own furniture, sure, that's fun and it's logical thing to do when furnishing a house (though I don't see why I need special kind of wood for my chair when I could be using the same kind of wood that's good enough for my weapons). But, who in their healthy mind would possibly enjoy crafting things like fake fruit decorations out of wax and nickel, when the world is full of real fruit ready to pick up and place on your table? And more importantly - who in their healthy mind could possibly think that it is a good idea to implement something like that?

Now, I have no problem with earning a chair, a table or a chandelier. I fully expect having to go fish a fish in order to hang it on the wall. I fully expect having to skin a daedroth in order to make a daedroth rug. I however don't see any reason why the hell should I have to "earn" a bag of pretend-rice or a basket of pretend-corns when my bank is already full of rice and corn. It makes so little sense, it makes me go bonkers just trying to figure it out: what - the - hell - were - they - thinking?

Possibly they were thinking, 'if the players can place real fruit, the players will expect to be able to loot the real fruit out of their friends' houses.'

Alcast and Sypher worked within the limits we have now.

The only difference is on PTS you could use free money to buy the needed items + your unwillingness to put in the time required to get them on live.

I created an entire house using nothing but items that can be purchased in game for gold from Ciceros in cold harbor. No grinding required. 28k OP doesn't take grinding just time and willingness to be creative. Wasn't even that many items.
You could do this in a medium or above.

Love the music. Oh and good job on the house too!

But the amusing thing is...when you loot fruit and other open food in the world, you have a chance at getting decorative wax. So all along, we've been eating fake food. Lol

Also, a recipe for decorative bread loaf includes nickel. I can't quite wrap my mind around that one.

All these threads with people whining that they haven't maxed the system out literally dozens of hours since it launched are stupid.

You are quite right, I am unwilling to grind. I want to play the game for FUN! Building stuff would be FUN! It is a GAME!

Then play the game and have fun. Housing is supposed to be a long term side investment. Every once in awhile you earn something and put it into your home for the hell of it, and then move on with your life. (Just like real life when you start out with a lawn chair couch and a milk crate coffee table).

You're not supposed to have everything instantly.
You're not supposed to grind yourself silly.
You're not supposed to blow all your gold on overpriced crafted items (supply / demand) in the first week.

Wait a bit until everyone has more ingredients than they know what to do with, and the supply and demand has sorted itself out.

Maybe next month you kill a hard boss and you can mount it's head over your fireplace then move on with your life. Maybe a few weeks later you get an achievement and unlock a cool decoration. You throw it in the corner and move on with your life.

So by the Summer or this time next year you'll have a nice place that pays tribute to your time and achievements in game.

It's not supposed to be the main focus. It's a side feature to fool around with in your down time.

Homestead is fine. Sounds like some people don't get the concept of having to start from not much and build on it. Right now it might seem pretty basic, but thats how these things work, you put in the feature, bed it in and then expand on it if it is popular.
Say please, before you AAAAAaaaarrrgghhh at me.

I came in with some hopes that were not 100℅ met. Instead of screaming to the heavens, demanding ZOS meet my hopes, I just changed my priorities, giving ZOS time to improve the system. That's what rational, even-tempered people do.
How patronising can you get? No one is screaming to the heavens here.

This must be your first day to the forums since Homestead released. Welcome. The forums have settled down a bit since Monday.

Don't be rude or dismissive, if you're trying to teach people how to behave on forums. Or if you're voicing your opinions harsly, you must allow others to do so.

I hoped for fun time with crafting with this update. Instead I got fun with gathering mats. Running around shores of Auridon farming wood is a pleasure, to a point. After a few days, I enjoy it less. And personally I doupt I can afford the time needed. I was really looking forward for furniture crafting, so yes I'm dissapointed. Farming mats couple of hours for every plate I craft is too much for me.

Blueprints are not the issue. Nor is decorating your garden, there's lot of variety for that in in-game stores.

I'm sure furniture crafting is good for hardcore crafters and traders. I can do others things with my time now.

I just think we could get a lot further with the conversation by not kneejerking the whole "ZOS epic fail!"hysteria that always happens by the twenty or so posters, I know that isn't going to happen because of agendas and all, but the way it's being handled now can pretty much guarantee legitimate complaints will get put in the flaming troll bin.
You are presumptuous. Do not taint everyone with the same brush. I have no agenda. I did not even think about Homestead much before it was released to live. I am not representing a guild or any other group of people. I am not handling it on behalf of anyone. I do not see how you are the judge of what is a legitimate complaint or not. I have not read much else that's been said about Homestead in other threads. So please take this for what it is. A genuine, independent opinion.

I can only shake my head in disbelief at people defending ZOS here, and the people uprating that first reply. Are we the players, or are we ZOS employees? Housing could have been SO much better than the stupid grindfest that it is. The gameplay could have been about decorating your house, but more so about promoting creative and unexpected gameplay with the housing editor, as Alcast and Sypher have done. Instead, what is the primary gameplay? It is grinding. I realise that is part of MMOs, but what's sad is that this was an opportunity to change that, yet ZOS did not have the courage, vision or conviction to do so.
    ^^
It's pathetic that the ONLY way to obtain housing crafting mats is farm, farm, farm... surveys don't give them. hirelings don't give them, normal writs don't give them. NOOOO! The only way is to endlessly run around with everyone else doing the same thing. I have farmed for three straight days now and have yet to collect 20 Bast! Congratulations ZOS on a new low in your never-ending quest to eff-up TES!!!
