The house that got away- Zenimax, oh Zenimax.

Dear Zenimax.

Seeing as now housing is here and we are running around gathering all sorts of new crafting blueprints and so and so, I am left to say I am feeling slightly dissapointed. The reason why?
No houses in DC can match the beauty of a Manor, and not just any manor, I will use this manor as my example of some of the manors we meet on our way in DC land.
I am of course speaking of the Manor looking as the one in Shornhelm/Wayrest and many more.

You have provided us with lovely homes, yet I feel as a home which would suit, which was perfectly tailored, which would have left me the happiest little ESO player.. Is missing for the lovely Bretons to be able to have. Yes we have two houses looking almost identical, the difference is a basement, and we have a lovely castle we can buy..
Yet I feel like you are missing somenthing important for many of us.

Rooms.

XS694r9.png

Rooms are such an important part of a house, surely we can make our own if we find the prints for planks to put in our house, yet we leave out this lovely style of home that has everything an RP'er and a person with the dreams/hopes/ideas of how our dream house in ESO could look like.

H40oqMi.png

This house in my opinion atleast, would have been a house I had gladly payed my 3.7 million gold for, or even better, bought for Crowns.
A house with potential for a garden around it, adding to the beauty of the home, especially if I may be as bold as to say.. For us who enjoy the RP perspective of the game.
Thus this home not being added as a home for us, I ask of you Zenimax, could you ever consider in your hearts, to one day, hopefully, add this house for us?

Sincerely, a smiling breton who loves her manor.

Totally agree, and what with High Rock being somewhat completed now (as in, no real space left for Breton themed DLCs to come), I think it would be a nice hats off if this style was available. It's so... convenient. I have purchased the Daggerfall Castle, but if this was an option, I would have chosen it over the former, in a flash!

I agree completely. As much as I love the castle and it provides a lot of 'space' for us to use, I find it lacking in the area of room.

I would have loved this home, I would still love to have this home and me being optimistic would hope that there would be found a little spot somewhere in our existing breton land to plop the most wonderfull of wonderfull houses down.

The pictures inside are from Montclair manor, but it surely shows what great oppertunities lies within this beauty of a home!

Very few houses have separate rooms.

Only ones I can think of are:

    - Large inperial
    - Large Dunmer
    - Medium Dunmer

Nord medium/large and Dunmer and Breton manors have a master bedroom, but that's theit only separate room.

I wish there were an Altmer Manor too! Khajiit is great for those who like that style, but it's kind of odd to me that the AD manor wasn't Altmer... Large Altmer buildings in the game (yet none that we can purchase) have separate rooms too, well, some of them do

Isn't Mathiison Manor the largest Altmer building in the game?

As to your point about separate rooms, unfortunately this is the problem when they reuse existing building from the game, that are designed for quest content (i.e. allow players to flow through them quickly) rather than create new structures which are designed to be a functioning homes (i.e. separate rooms). :/

I think while it would have been cool to get an Altmer style manor and the Kinlord/Kinlady title, it would have been extraordinarily inconsistent with altmer culture and lore. They're extremely hierarchical and social mobility is non existent. If you aren't born noble, you don't get to be a noble and a non-altmer purporting to nobility is just not happening.

So ZOS went with Khajiiti Manor and title as its a somewhat looser culture.

That said, Mathiiesen is a manor in all but name. It's gorgeous and has a nice layout with a lovely garden!

What I find interesting is that those who are a fan of Nords are pretty well-dissapointed by the lack of creativity in the Nord-themed homes, because they are simply copy-pasted. (And that the medium and large have basically the same interior space and layout.) The Bretons got something original and wished it was copy-pasted.

To be fair, the existing Nord houses in the game are pretty much all the same. The Breton architecture in the game, on the other hand, is actually quite varied and from what I can see their homes are much larger.

The medium Nord home, in addition, has absolutely zero exterior space. None. ...I understand that this makes sense for its location, but for the price I just couldn't do it.

I feel like they really missed a great opportunity for a Nordic fort/stronghold/castle. Especially seeing as how our houses are unoriginal, lacking the features of other races, and there is no apartment or inn room either. (The Dunmer got both Inn Rooms and Apartments...and a castle, plus they'll be getting even more with Morrowind.)

Also...who puts what should be the most spectacular Nordic home somewhere without snow? ...seriously...why?

I think a lot of the races got tons of cool stuff, and some of us were left out...but not even in the cold in this case.

Let me just say that I've blown all my crowns already on an Orc home...but I'd gladly go buy more crowns right now for an original Nordic Fort in the snow.

Lighthouses, these manors, towers, different caves, crypts, ruins. There is so many oppertunities for Zenimax to allow us as players to create our own unique places for us to relax, fill and work with.

    Allowing us to be creative.

I love housing, truly do, I have too many things I can craft now, without the house of my dreams~.
Which has for now made me not buy any houses, as I feel it would either be a waste of my gold to 'settle for somenthing less than I want/need', and I highly do not desire to buy crown to buy any houses either, simply because it does not give me the feel it would be my money worth it, especially now with the prices the houses are.

I feel there could have been done far more with housing from Zenimax side, I have a feeling the houses in Morrowind will be all new and 'self-made', which is lovely! Yet I feel there should be/have been more done for the existing areas.

I was discussing with a guildie just last week how cool the Wayrest Chironasium / Daggerfall Fighter Guild building would have been a PERFECT personal house. It has two rooms on the ground floor, two rooms upstairs, a nice hall with a winding staircase and a basement with another three rooms. Seeing as most building have large open spaces, this one would be very suitable to create that cozy home with separate bedroom, kitchen, etc.

I've been thinking for a while that I wish there were more houses available.

I was reluctant to make a topic about it because I think ZOS actually did a really good job of offering a wide range of houses and more than 39 would probably be excessive for an initial release.

But there are definitely some buildings in the game which aren't available as houses that I wish we could have. This is one of them and at the other extreme the breton ones that are one rectangular room downstairs and 1 upstairs (as an intermediate between the small and medium houses). Also something like Cliffshade but with a courtyard, and some of the reguard buildings which aren't available.

I'm hoping that as time goes on as well as getting new kinds of homes (Televanni tower?) we'll get more varieties of existing buildings.

It's more than just a basement. If you look at the floor space the Gardner House is *much* larger than Ravenhurst, and actually has a proper upstairs. It's essentially a 3-story house with 3 equally large floors. Ravenhurst has a nice backyard but the upper floor isn't even a proper upstairs, more like large loft.
