Lots of absolutely great games coming out atm. Farming all day everyday for my house is really not something I can look forward to. Would rather save myself the headache.

My rich guildmasters will grant me access to their homes and I'll get everything that way :)

Exactly. I feel like the last several major events (counting Homestead, New Life Festival and Halloween Event) were nothing but agonizing grinds and farming. Luckily, the Halloween event (can't remember what ESO called it) was actually enjoyable. Sure it was a miserable grind and farm, but the way it had everyone cramming into several different delves across Tamriel ensured socializing and horsing around with random people while we waited for the boss to respawn. THAT was fun. The New Life Festival was anything but fun and so far, this Homestead grind is anything but fun.

P.S. Still not sure what ZOS was thinking we they decided to hold just one main quest giver for New Life right AFTER they launched One Tamriel. It's like they were trying to ruin my PC with lag overload. Too many people in one place on their awful sever...

OP, stealing has been the best method for me. A few days and I've already got a rug, three or four shelves, a bookcase, a barrel rack, and some other miscellaneous stuffs. It will be slow coming, to entice anxious people (like a lot of my guildies) into crown options. Just stick with it, it will be worth it, when you look back at it.

It is in there I'm pretty sure. Thought I saw it even. Maybe it's under the crafting category. If I have a chance tonight I'll take a screenshot of it and post it here and tag you in it.

Anything in direct competition with cash shop sales will have tons of RNG. You didn't think crafting +XP items was a one-of did you? It's why this type of crafting is like it is and nothing like the crafting that was designed prior to the cash shop.

Then when the Morrowind houses come out they'll log back in and come to the forums to whine they don't have any materials to furnish their houses in Morrowind.

    This here.

You know, I'm no big fan of the time sink, either. And I hate the rate at which the crafting materials drop. I tried for an hour and a half to get furniture crafting materials. At first, I got several, and then they slowed down a bit. It was frustrating because I needed 10 heartwood, I found 9, and then for another hour I couldn't find even 1.

But that's the RNG gods, right? If I was just playing the game, not worried about finding the mats, I wouldn't even notice.

The thing is: I remember when the game dropped and players were selling motifs - Breton, Khajiit, whatever - for four digit gold prices. Yeah. In time, the price will come down. But if you're that person that has to have instant gratification, I have only one thing to say to you:

I will sell you a small table for 5,000 gold. :)

Spent a hour stealing in and around the bank in Vuklhel Gaurd and got about 8 blue prints one purple 3 blue and 4 green.. Apprently I am very lucky? But the drop rate for stuff like heartwood needs to improve like ALOT I suggest they make it 100% or close because this is insane atm.. I do think this will be adressed next patch because I hear A LOT of people about this

This has been my experience too. Blueprints are dropping slowly, but I'm ok with that because it's a special YAYYY moment when they do. BUT, the requirements of rare stuff to make simple common items (Several bervez juices to make a piece of beef to sit on the dinner table?!?!) plus the rarity of material drops makes making even a few ultra-basic items for your apartment a ridiculous effort.

Please scale so beginning crafters can do these simple things with a modest amount of effort, and leave these demanding requirements for the really fancy things that master crafters would do. Don't make me jump through hoops just to have a decorative piece of beef, for Mara's sake!!!

I think a lot of people haven't clued-in yet that the furnishings for crowns is not on a tab of the main crown store page but accessed through the housing editor only instead. You can even buy the practice dummies there.

    Disappointment comes out of unrealistic expectations. Just some somewhat apt examples;
Were we able to craft all the arms and armour sets a couple of days after release? No, we had to work on researching traits for months before we could. Not to mention harvesting.
Were we able to prepare food and drink immediately upon becoming a Provisioner? No, we had to collect the various recipes that were found out in the world, in much the same way furnishings are found now.
And I'm sure we all remember just how tough it was to advance in Enchanting in the beginning.

These things take time, it's the nature of the beast in any MMO, and that is not a bad thing; for the flip side is that everything is able to be obtained immediately, or with little effort, and that only leads to a multitude of threads of players complaining that 'There's nothing to do'.

Great is the realization that most of these things still occur (finding recipes/materials etc) Whilst doing other things in the game, like questing and the like. The singular focus many seem to have these days that; I'm just going to do A, B or C and nothing else right now (.e.g. look for recipes), will almost always lead to frustration and disappoint, as the game is simply not designed to be played that way. This inevitably leads to that ever misused word 'grind'.

Is Homestead perfect? Of course not. I think there are very good arguments to be had in relation to the amount of materials (and types) required to make various household items. And there are other areas that could be improved too. Hyperbole aside, Homestead is anything but the disaster some make it out to be on the forums.
If you can be anything, be kind.

I've found about 10 blueprints and 1 blue painting over the course of doing 2 dungeons and 1 trial just by checking backpacks and chests, make sure you check the usual places you would have looked for the normal blue motif books eg dressers and cupboards

Try looking for blueprints in the delves in Eastmarch and The Rift. I find plenty there, at least one per delve.

I find squat in Greenshade. :/

I've never found ANYTHING in a crate or barrel. They're always in drawers, backpacks and dressers, and in urns in the delves.

WE all said this day one of the PTS. I am actually kind of shocked the designs drop as often as they do. But then again I have spent probably 8 or 10 hours looting and stealing from everything I see. I have gotten maybe 25-30 patterns. 12-15 greens 10-12 blues and a single purple.

I have also started grabbing every node I see even low level ones on my alts just top get the 'rare' items. THOSE are much harder to come by. I havent got a single alchemy one on any of my character yet. Although I have probably only grabs 15-20 plants.

But then again I havent bought a house and I wont either until they get a little more functionality. I have done the starter quest on two characters tho.

Either way you know its a bad DLC when they bury it before its officially released by announcing their first expans....err 'chapter'.

Housing was the end all be all and the number one requested addition wanted/needed to this game. Three years after release they FINALLY add it and before it goes live they announce Mirrowind. LMAO. That should tell you all you need ot know about this 'housing' DLC.

i found five blueprints in about an hour, one in each major city.

Of those, I think most were in cupboards/nightstands, but pretty sure one was in a wood crate or barrel on the street in daggerfall. Haven't found any on NPCs or delves.

So around 1 for every 20ish cupboards, nightstands, and backpacks I looked in (slow thief).

Earlier I complained about the farming as well, and that the necessary furniture to outfit a home are locked behind crowns.
I have to take that back, at least partially.
I farmed a bit the last few days, because I really wanted to have as many Blueprints as possible, and I got a lot. The droprates are not even bad if you know where to look. It's RNG, yeah, but since we can freely trade blueprints as well as crafted furniture, that dissolves the whole issue for me.
Within the last few days the prices for furniture and blueprints already dropped, and also I have lots of guildies and friends who provide me with the furniture I need in change for furniture I can craft. Materials can be bought from other players as well, for a price, but well. It's ingame gold and prices will drop as well. The House I outfitted now has everything it needs, collected and crafted within the last two days. If you don't have much time due to work and all, it will take a bit longer I guess, but in the end, if player supports player, it's really not an issue.

I have come to the conclusion that I really like Homestead as it is. The setback like RNG and and farming is an mmo sickness, but well, cope or don't. I happily trade furniture, craft stuff myself. You can also sell your crafted stuff and buy materials for the gold...

PS: the housing editor is an awesome tool. Never saw that much freedom for placing objects. I faked a fireplace with a Daedric sconce (you can get for 5k in Ebonheart if you played the campaign) sunken into the floor under some dead wood...
planks half burried in walls and blocks make excellent makeshift shelves... :D

Give it a few weeks and there will be loads in stores.

Housing isn't a thing you do in a week, it's mean't to be something you gradually work towards.

You slowly get blue prints, mats and make furniture. You can then upgrade your house if you want to from small to medium to large etc...

    It's a long time thing.

^^ this exactly. If the exact current implementation of homestead existed at launch, other than initial 'OMG so expensive', everyone would have slowly acquired during the umpteen hours of levelling/questing/grinding to max, and once people could start to afford the larger houses, a large crafting market would have been already established and plenty of blueprints would have made it into the system.

The issue is everyone wants to get their own blueprints now so everyone is competing with each-other for farm spots.
