Just to verify, have you checked that they are not clipping into anything or placed at an angle? The editor will highlight them green when they are placed in a usable manner.

Yes, they are out in the middle of the courtyard atm. Placed them and wanted to see how they work. Mouseover produces nothing.

Changing the name of the house doesn't affect the loading screen or friends list/guild roster. I don't think the name is even visible to other players. (I don't really know what the point of allowing you to change the house name is if it's never used.)
