At least twice now that I can recall, they have had a crown sale shortly after releasing a DLC, and the forums immediately filled with rage and hate threads from people who had just purchased crown packs at full price for the DLC. Maybe they'll do it again, maybe not. Since they don't announce in advance I think the best you can do is not plan your purchases around a sale you don't know is coming, and then pick up an extra pack when they do go on sale and try not to blow them all in one place.

For each sale and the amount purchased, if impacts the crown store prices so the sale isn't going to help....it hurts
id rather they never do anymore sales ....also what's the point if you are almost forced to sub for QoL and base game updates locked behind the sub paywall

To be fair I only came to this thread thinking the Z meant something constructive had been added to the conversation by a dev or something

I would second, third and fourth this.
Because ZO masssively overprices some crown store items to match the best possible price you can get crowns for when on sale, I can only afford to buy crowns when they are and I regard ESO Plus as a really bad deal. I've made peace with that now, keep an ear to ground for crown sales and live from one to the next.
But I think it might be hurting the business. Badly.
Glow kitty. That looked so cool. Would have been utterly perfect for my Khajiit sorcerer. I wanted it. Would have spent up to $25 on one. That's semi-reasonable. $40? Bugger that. I wasn't aware of ESO's crown store strategy back then and wasn't prepared for it. So I had to let it pass. Now that Khajiit sorcerer is just a mule alt and probably always will be. And I stopped playing for aaaages.
The elk I saw coming, though sadly underestimated the price. Most of the other 'regular' mounts had been 1800 crowns and their better versions 2500. So I bought crowns last time they were on sale and thought I'd have heaps to buy the elk and the banker, which I desperately need so I can avoid chronically lagged towns. But at 4500 crowns I ended up slightly short.
Am I going to pay full price for any crowns when ZO have this strategy? No. I can't. So I grabbed the limited time item and have stopped playing until the next sale. Just doing the horse feeding grind and a little crafting. Though I've stopped for a while with Homestead's release. Towns take way too long to load at the moment with everyone checking it out.
In the meantime I've returned to another MMO which has its own problems (definitely) but which I'm kind of enjoying and may stick with. If I do, I'm obviously less likely to spend money on ESO.
Strange... There's an ESO Store/Account System maintenance tomorrow, on a Tuesday, perhaps a Crown Sale coming for Valentine's Day?!? Usually Store/Account maintenance is done on Thursdays if I remember correctly.

And the rage was ridiculous, because every single one of those people KNEW that if they waited long enough, they could get crowns on sale. They just didn't want to wait.At least twice now that I can recall, they have had a crown sale shortly after releasing a DLC, and the forums immediately filled with rage and hate threads from people who had just purchased crown packs at full price for the DLC.
