Co-ownership of homes

cornbread923
So me and my brother having been playing eso together for some time and while we play alot we dont have much coin. With the new housing update coming out we definitely want a pretty nice house but we cant really afford it on our own. But with our money combined we can. So my question is, is there a way to co-own a house with another person? I know he can trade me his money and i could buy the house and then give him permissions to decorate and visit. But is there any drawbacks to him not being the official owner. Can he utilize everything in the house we might craft or decorate the same way i would be able to or will he be limited compared to me?

No, there is no co-ownership of houses, and there never will be.

Best you can do is buy the house on one account, and give the other maximum permissions... but the homes themselves will remain bound to one account, just like any crown store unlock. Its the way the code is set up - just like you can't share a crown store bear mount, really...

Personally I wouldn't bother, and just have two different homes for each of you, so you can visit each other and show off who's the better decorator...

What -might- someday be possible is buying special places for a guild, as a "guildhall"... but that is not even on the horizon at this point (though guildmasters can of course open their home as improvised guildhall...)

@cornbread923 Some of the limits are as follows (they might have changed from pts)

    a. You can only use items from the owner eg if your brother has unlocked something that you don't have neither of you can place it in your house
    b. Think maximum rights allow the others to modify the house but they can't add or remove from the store -they need to give the owner the item so it can be added - at which point everything is owned by that single person

Would suggest trying out the free apartments purely to see how it feels before invest in buy homes.
If short of cash and going for the small places - do some "shopping" (robbing) to gather loot to sell. There some safe spots that one can raid without to much risk of being captured.

Also remember that houses are here for the long haul so you can take your time to find the right places for both of you.

Awesome guys, thanks for the feedback and the advice. I agree that patience and testing on the free apartments is definitely the way to go. Also do you guys know if other peoplw can use my crafting stations while visiting my home?

This is what I would do.

Borrow the money from your brother and get the house you want. Then both of you can work on getting your brother a house.

If you want a friend, get a dog.

Just remember that people can only visit if you given them permission to visit as a minimum. Also just make sure that you can use the crafting station - as there ways it can be placed that people can not interact with it.

Best of luck with you path to being a new home owner.
