    Good tidings!

That isnt a fun phobia to have and congrats for sharing your fear! That is super hard thing to do
Are you able to group up with a buddy or buddies to help you get through the bug areas? Lots of friendly people kicking around to help yah out <3 Truth be told, Im terrified of the water parts but having a friend close by does help.
An invite is always available if youre up for it!
Eso is a great way to break away from reality for a while and to lose yourself with the thrill of adventures. It would be a shame if you took another hiatus without discovering the other fun quests in Tamriel. Though do what you are comfortable with <3

Keep your head up and good luck in your classes! ^.=.^

Related but not entirely: There were actually quite a few people who were asking about spider replacement mods when Skyrim SE came out. (Aka, people who were crippled by how realistic Skyrim's spiders were but wanted to still play.) This is actually a lot more common than you think, it's just that few people talk about it. :)
I'm not afraid of spiders in general (I'm actually happy to have a few spiders around my home because they tend to take care of any bugs that may get in and annoy me), but when those spiders in Skyrim suddenly drop down from the ceiling when you weren't expecting them... If it sometimes freaks me out even though I'm not afraid of spiders, man, I can totally understand why people with arachnophobia would have a major problem playing through with that.

Right? Doesn't even matter if you see the webs coming. Sometimes they still get you. Although at least they don't eat each other like ESO's spiders. Can I express the wtf face I made the first time I saw that? :D The wasps in ESO do sometimes startle me in the really thick jungle areas though. You can run into them very suddenly so I get that can be a legit thing. I can't imagine how it must be like for someone who is honestly afraid of any of these things.

You know, something similar happened to me in a WoW raid, Throne of Thunder, when I saw giant snails. I have a terrible phobia to those things, to the point I avoided looking at the window to the interior garden of my home whenever I entered the house. Anyway, some of the first mobs in that raid which were indeed giant snails, almost caused me to throw up on my keyboard.

And no, I'm not kidding. Your phobia is fully understandable. I would have done the same if the game were full of snails.

I'm sorry about the wasps. Truly, I hate the suckers too. I kind of feel that way about the spiders in game as well as IRL. The little tiny ones are sort of okay, but the big ones? They are just so nasty! I feel the same way about turtles too. I know, they are slow and couldn't catch me, but still. The fear is irrational, but that doesn't make it any less real.

My younger sister has an extreme case of arachnophobia. She will scream at the mere sight of one, even if it's the most harmless spider on the planet. She will flee the scene if one was spotted even from 20 feet away.

When she played Skyrim, she also had problems with fighting the spiders. She would drag them to a doorway where they can't get to her character, then fireball it to death. Even though those spiders aren't real, it triggers her arachnophobia, hence the clever use of doorways to kill it.

I don't have any problems with the Skyrim or ESO spiders now.

you're my hero today @arena25 ...true strength and courage comes through when sharing our individual fears, quirks and idiosyncrasies...

the wasps are definitely your opportunity to be brave...empower yourself and wipe them clean off the face of tamriel (at least until they respawn in a minute or so)...

ps: I absolutely hate spiders...yuck and ick...

    Hey, everyone.

First, I want to thank whichever mod/dev helped me out by removing one of my comments (which thanks to earlier moderation, was practically dead weight) so quickly. It warms my heart to know that some mods/devs are still working tirelessly, even though this is a rather depressing/rubbish day and even though many other people have gone home from work already.

Second, I want to thank everyone who expressed sympathies and even shared their own stories/remedies for phobias like mine. I might take the suggestions for remedies/therapies to my social worker (despite the fact she is trained to provide behavior counseling to autistic people like myself, this situation is more than likely out of her league) and see if she can recommend anything. I have been trying to shake off my fear of stinging insects for quite some time now, and now seems like a good time to try and shake off the phobia once and for all. I'm trying to get back into ESO and actually venture outside the starter zones, and if that means I need therapy to adventure in Deshaan again, then so be it!

And finally, I want to thank everyone for making this thread a great success. Usually when I make these types of threads in other gaming communities, they are quickly derailed with spam and devs or myself are forced to shut them down. The fact that you guys did not derail this thread makes me proud to be an ESO community member and is the main reason why I keep coming back to this game (regardless of what life throws at me). Thank you to all for being such a great community and helping the game be its best, as well as helping other players through the highs and lows of life.

    I'm sorry if this doesn't look well-written. I'm tired, and I don't function well when I'm tired.

Again, thank you all. I believe that nothing more can be said here. If no one has any objections, I am requesting a lock here.

    Signed,
    Arena25
