Can you store equipment in housing?

Yesterday I bought a house but I can't see how to store any equipment. There is a chest so I assumed I would be able to put gear in there like in Skyrim but it wasn't letting me. Is there a trick? I mean why else own a house?

Ok so what was the benefit of the house?

Seems to me if I buy a house it should be like I bought bank space but that's now my own bank.

No benefit. Just farm fest until Morrowind drops. Players need to be busy...

There is currently no way to store items in houses except for designated furniture items. Weapons, armour, crafting materials etc. cannot be placed in a house (or in containers within a house) at all.

ZOS have said they might add storage at some point in the future but we don't know when that will be or how that storage system will work.

yeah, from what i've read there's only one function in your house you're not getting anywhere else: the target skeleton.
for everything else one of the major cities is still the place to go!

it wouldn't have been much additional work for the devs to really make your home worthwhile:
    - pledges and other daily quests via mailbox
    - full bank (including guilds and vendors) access on your bank assistant
    - repair option on your merchant assistant
    - no fee on your fence assistant
    - new stable assistant for riding lessons

poof, your home can be used as alternative for major cities... but what did we get? Hollow shells that can only be filled by a lot of grinding.. it's just..meh..

Housing in mmos tends to be vanity. Sometimes you have games that give 'vendors' but it is almost always vanity. Bank space is already accout wide so they dont need more account wide space. MMORPGs need limited space, hoarding is a waste of server memory

The main function of housing as of now is decoration and to some degree a way to materialize and demonstrate your achievements by displaying achievement blocked items.

If it is not your cap of tea - you don't need house.

Hoarded items in bank is not in memory its on drives unless loaded, then you enter the house the server need to load your house and all the furniture with its placement.
Then you leave the house the server can drop it from memory.
An piece of gear takes up perhaps 20 byes 50 if done inefficient and with room for expansion so stick with 50.
Crafting mats is just object id and counter. so 4 bytes, so much better with crafting bags, for ZoS that is :)
say 250 items in player bank and an alt. 12.5 KB

Let say 50 for furniture too, no stats but it need to store house ID and position.
    How large is your inventory,
Mansion is 350 items= 17.5 KB, combine with with player for 30KB, Now multiply this with number of players, lets assume Morrowind sells very good, 30KB x 10 Million is 300 GB.
Now this is stored in an database you need lots of indexes and you also have lots of gaps so say 3TB.

Limiting storage space is obsolete the same way save spots in games are, it was needed back on super Nintendo as you only had a few byte as save space.
Now reducing memory use is another issue and don't apply much for housing as they are an separate instance so then in house you are not doing an dungeon who had to be held in memory too.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

This was expected from eso as in all the information given out previous to the homestead update there was no mention of storage and its so ridiculous so basicly your tell me the house is pretty much to furnish and for you to go in it and be like wauw cool i have a house that i cant even put my belongings in to it and as far as server wise thats the most ridiculous thing ive ever heard people are still storing in banks. I literally have had to open up 8 new characters just for storage 60 items per character becuase the bank space prices are ridiculous this game is just swamp with ristrictions i mean seriously i cant even for a bond to any of my things or my character everything is smoke and mirrors Whats the point of a house if i cant store stuff in it this is something that needs to be fixed asap i dont even know why the banking system was ever even put in place is as if they just want to make money from every little angle possible they know people are going to need more space faster then what you collect between the generic missions
