Ice tank and healer.

Now with magicka blocking you can now effectively tank and heal using the same resource.

I am thinking I should try out a Ice tank templar healer.

Breton
Magikca regen and spell resistance

Gear
Desert Rose and Heavy Seducer armor seems like what I am looking for. As I will have quite a few skills points into Health compared to a DPS healer i am going to be healing for a lot less. So I am focusing on resources to hopefully heal more. Lich is also an option but I believe desert rose is despite the nerfs the #1 resource armor. Better seggestions?

Ice staff and resto staff

What are typical Tanky healery skills I should be leveling?

I do still need to actually be able to solo overworld quests for skyshards, although for Mag Templars Jabs will probably be enough.

How should I balance of Magicka and Hp stats?

(bored waiting on patch download)

tanking vet will require you lots of blocking and sometimes perma blocking so using the same resource for tanking and healing is not good idea for templar.
I believe that change will allow to make totaly permablock tanks for magika NB and DK simply switching between 1h&sh and ice-destro while gaining resourses with siphoning or earth passive.

DK would be the better one for this since the passive resource restores

I personally don't think that the heal/tank playstyle will be all that great with ice staff. Recall that cost reduction and regen are two very important stats for a healer. What will you do when you go OOM? You won't be able to block OR heal, rendering you useless to a group that is in a high strain situation. You might be able to make sorcerer and dark exchange work to fuel your magicka pool while blocking, but you won't be able to use it often with a small stam pool.

Really interesting sounding playstyle that I will be hype to play when warden comes out, but it is going to be challenging to make work.

EDIT: unless I am mistaken, Lich adds to your regen, which is useless since it adds regen, which you won't get by blocking. You could try going for Warlocks instead, since you will be stacking max magicka and that set is dependent on you max mag. Otherwise, I think that black rose (that is the set you meant right?) Might not be the best set, since you will want to stack for max magicka and cost reduction. If you play your cards right, you might be able to get to the point where warlock procs every minute and keeps you up high enough.

What I'm looking forward to trying is a frost staff + 1h/shield warden tank.

That would give you two resource pools to block with, and when one gets low you swap to the other while it regens. Use the staff while your stamina is low and recharges, then swap to shield to let your magicka recover.

Damage output with a true hybrid tank like that will probably be horrid, but you should be a royal pain to kill.

Magicka furnace actually sounds better than desert Rose for tanking, given that a lot of boss fights don't actually have you being hit that much all the time. Use both, because you need a lot of magicka.

    1H/S magicka furnace and 3 armor/jewelry pieces
Desert Rose ice staff (good luck finding one cheap) and 4 armor/jewelry slots

This leaves you three slots for a 3-piece aegis set or a monster set with 1 more piece of desert Rose for 5x light to crit heal better and avoid the cost of the ice staff. All pieces sturdy where possible. Maybe a reinforced heavy chest. Jewelry enchants block cost reduction

If you're worried about taking too much damage in 4-5x light, remember that this is a heal-tank setup that shouldn't be used in any content where a dedicated tank is needed. Also, magicka harness is going to cushion a lot of attacks

I think.. I'll just play tank... with templar self healing. S&B and ice staff switching seems most effective.

Magic furance is also a good set option. Particularly with all my spell resistance.

So a tank with some healing options.

Well tanking normal dungeons is so easy (I duoed city of ash 1, tanking on my MagDK DPS vampire with another MagDK as my DPS) that I underestimated it.
I'll probably still level healing and put some skyshards into it to give me options.
